Axminster Forstner Bits

Just got the Axminster TopTools catalogue and noticed a set of 5 Forster bits (15, 20, 25, 30, 35) on page 12 going half price at £10 (item nr. 410473)

I'm sure they're not amazing at that price, but does anyone have them and if so are they OK?

I have that set, used about 3 of them a few times and can't recall any problems.

I've got the bigger set and am delighted. OK so they are not Clico, but they are fine nonetheless. Certainly good VFM

I almost bought the larger pack but when i went to order them they had sold out

Good value, but you might find the odd one with the rim above the chippers, so in need of exchange or careful grinding.

Another vote for them. They cut cleanly - no problems at all, excellent VFM.

Mixed results on my set. 2 of them cut poorly and you can clearly see the rough finish on the cutting edges. I preferred the old Axminster before they started selling the TiN coated type.

All my Forstner bits are either these ones or the Silverline ones from Toolstation and I've never had a problem with either.

I bought an Axminster saw toothed cutter , it was bloody awful completely blunt. I asked for a replacement, same again!

Excellent quality - much cheaper than a Clico

Ah, yes, I also bought a sawtooth cutter from Wealden recently. Excellent value for money and performance! If you're drilling through the side of a pre-cut mortice though they will squeal a bit!
