I'm sure I've read, somewhere on this site, that the delivery on a table saw (or something similar) was free, from Axminster. On their site its quoting £45 delivery. I can't ring them till tomorrow to confirm, so was just wondering if anyone knows before I speak to SWMBO. Not that she wears the pants, you understand!!!!

Delivery Charges

Delivery is FREE for all orders over £45 in value to UK mainland addresses (orders under £45 - p&p £3.95).

Axminster heavy goods deliveries are subject to a £45 or £60 delivery charge subject to the size and weight of the product.

Yes £45 is their standard Heavy Goods charge.

What saw did you go for?

Yep, you have either £45 or £60 delivery charge for heavy goods depending on weight/size..But its on their own lorries, so your pretty sure your going to get your gear delivered in one peice, and the delivery guys are great..my TS was delivered right upto the door of my workshop, as opposed to "sign here, mate" and it left on the kerbside......
And if you get the stuff "on sale" it usually negates/cancels out the delivery charge anyway

different for me, I bought the TESH (tenoner) it came straight from Leeds. But still the guy from Sedgwick was good also.

When I had my table saw there was a charge of £45 but atv the same time I bought a planer/thicknesser with no extra charge, in other words they delivered them both for £45.

Have just ordered the TS200, which is delivered FREE. Price is very good, compared to the clones of this saw and with a decent! blade thrown in. Any tips on setting this saw up before it arrives, would be gratefully accepted

The TS-200 is considered a light item at 68kg but the cast iron AW10BSB2 at 260kg is a heavy item therefore comes with a delivery charge.
I can't tell you much about this model only like all table saws make sure that the blade and fence are parralel to the t-slot.

from experience :

1. CHECK THE RIVING KNIFE ! I've put this in uppercase because the first month with the machine I couldn't work out why wood kept sticking when cutting it, turned out that the supplied riving knife was thicker than the supplied blade - so check that. If it is wrong ring their technical dept. and they will send a replacement.

2. Check the blade is sqaure to the mire slots (mine was a little bit out)

Nope, not free.

My tablesaw was £60 delivery

Hi,

Just to clarify things... Due to the size, weight and shape of certain pieces of machinery we can only deliver them on our in house Delivery Service. We charge £45 or £60 for this service depending on which machine you are buying. Our drivers are very helpful guys and providing access to your workshop is good they will wheel it straight in!

Thanks

Richard

Thanks Richard. I, like many others here, have experienced this great service recently and can confirm that the driver was the most helpful and efficient delivery driver I have ever come in contact with. Outstanding! =D>

PS: There is nothing more exciting than this:

Hi Richard, for an additional delivery fee would drivers deliver to an inaccessible workshop? Say down a flight of stairs to a cellar with a 150kg PT for example.... By additional fee I mean to Axminster rather than 20 quid in the drivers back pocket!

Steve.

yeh I saw that too. Oh to be locked in that warehouse for a night.....

I remember back in 2004 when I ordered my Jet 54A saying that I thought the £30 delivery charge (which is was at he time) was a bit much seeing as Rutlands only charged £14.95, but boy did I eat my words, because that morning some ***** blocked the driveway and so the driver not only wheeled it down the 100 yard drive but placed it exactly where I wanted it in my workshop. He could not have been more helpful and IMHO the delivery charge is certainly worth it. Obviously I would rather it were free, but in my case anyway they earned it. =D>

I am sure there are more then a few other companies who would have dropped it at the end of the drive.

Cheers

Mike
