Hi all
Ive just received my Axminster AWFS18 Scroll Saw. Looking through the different blades you can get, anyone give any insight into which ones. I'm looking to buy in sizes 3-5-7 as to cover all bases but what in??
Pinned/Pinless
Skip/reverse skip/super skip/double skip/spiral/super cut/skip reverse/double reverse arrrgh ](*,)

In your shoes I would go for a reverse toothed blade in 3s, 5s and 7s. This will cover everything you are likely to cut. At a later date you may decide to stick to a particular type of scroll sawing, making the same sort of thing and if you decide todo this there are specialist blades available for certain types, thickness of materials used. Olsen and Pegas are very good names to go for. Avoid flying dutchman blades as there are problems with the quality control at the moment. Hope this helps.

Rob.

I would second the information given by Geoff.

Take care, happy scroll sawing.

I got the same saw this year and agree with the guys above, at the moment i am using Pegas blades but also have some Flying Dutchman which do seem to snap quite often even when using the same size as the Pegas. The set of blades that came with the saw from Axminster were surprisingly good..... i expected them to be cheap and cheerful but the not the case.
I only use pinless blades and main sizes 3, 5. 7's and to ease blades changing i got some levers for the blade clamps (see my old posts) makes changing blades a doddle.
Cheers
Brian
