Hi,

Does anyone have one of these brutes? Any tips for how to make it more usable inverted in a table?

I find the combination of weight, stiff return spring and poor height adjuster all make it a pain to use. I'm now fed up with wrestling with it, and reckon I need to either work out how to fix these problems, or give the thing up as a bad job.

I had the same problem with one of these, it finally blew sparks and smoke out of the top of the casing so I ditched it fairly quickly (did it on no load too so I was not hammering it!). Santa has now brought me a nice T11 :D

At the price the Axminster is never going to be perfect, until I tried the T11 I just didnt realise how bad the Axminster was though.

Steve.

I had one briefly, after having gone through several P-Pro models. I bought it, based on Axminster's description as 'light trade.' It was of inferior quality to the P-Pro ones. I now have a Makita. Night and day.

Cheers.

Taking the springs out sounds a good first step, if I can work out how to dismantle it. I feel I can really justify spending on a decent router, so I will persist with the white monster meanwhile.

If you take the fine height adjuster off or the end stop the whole thing should come apart .

Have you seen that done? I took off the fine height knob, but it didn't seem to let the thing come apart. Maybe it needs a bit of force.
