you can all nominate somebody to liase with Axminster, perhaps Rob, assuming he would like to join in again..
Assuming that this is the official 'nod' I'm happy to do the leg work on this one if the forum would like me to go ahead and provided we can get a quorum together - Rob

Rob, as I mentioned it's a bash type of venture and thus will not, at present, be a UKW official event, purely a bunch of people who happen to be members here and using the resources of the forum to put things together.
The nominee idea was just a suggestion which in effect was your position originally. So please go ahead and get things together and enjoy the occasion.

As we've covered 5 pages here and there an awful lot of discussion rather than something more positive it might be an idea to start a new thread and begin the leg work and gauging interest.

I'm confused - the original plan was boshed because it was without official sanction but now it is okay to go ahead without official sanction :duno:

if this becomes an official stand i'd be happy to do a stint (tho talking rather than demonstrating) but if its just a bunch of people doing it for giggles then i'll pass

i'll probably be at the show anyway so one way or another i'll see you folks there.

I think it would be good if we could get someone (maybe more than one person?) to actually make something on this stand. How often do you get that at these shows? Usually, there are plenty of people showing off their tools but, you never see anyone actually making a piece of furniture.

If you really wanted, you could even set yourself a challenge of completing this within a time frame (the duration of the show or, if you're feeling really lucky, maybe even a single day! :D).

Just one idea. :)

Agreed, but before I launch off on yet another thread, the main question that I wanted to know is...are forum members happy for me to go ahead with this? A simple 'yae' or 'nae' will suffice...I may be a Domino Ditherer 8-[ but all this requires is a straightforward answer - Rob

Rob your new thread would be to gather interested parties for the demonstrations. This thread has wandered around the houses and I suspect many people have tuned out. You need to post a new thread which explains exactly the situations and what you expect of the volunteers.

OK...I'll do that tomorrow when I can get my head round what I think needs to be done and how it needs to be worded - Rob

Dear confused from Wiltshire - this will not be an official UKW event. Just a bunch of people having fun and spreading the word about all things wood which was probably what it should've been seen as being in the first place unless there had been a request to UKW but with Charley's absence things got a bit fuzzy.
Don't worry about it being done for giggles, I'm sure it'll be organised and manned by very capable people.
