Hi

Does anyone specialise in ash framing for vintage cars etc?

Cheers

Dave

Dave,

There is a member called Morris Minor Driver, he was restoring a traveller so was looking at the ash. No idea how it is going, you could try sending him a PM (private message)

Hi Buzzy bee

I have not welcomed you yet so welcome to the forum :)

What are you doing as restoring is about the same what ever you are doing it on ( I restorer furniture ).

If I can help I will :)
What are you doing :?:

Did a bit on an old 1928 Austin Swallow that me & my brother used to own, rebuilt it from a pile of bits in packing crates to a rolling chassis but lost interest due to a "specialist" getting some body work wrong so it never got finished.

Hi

DaveL; I will look up morris minor driver, thanks for that!

jasonB;
An austin Swallow, what a shame you never finished it, they have the most amazing cab shape, have you still got her or is she long gone?

Colin C; Well I am actually working part time as a blacksmith and part time just restoring my own car, a 56 steel backed e83w pickup (see E83w restoration at www.minisidewalk.co.uk)

But I have loved working with wood ever since I was at school, my dad loves wood aswell, we make beehives together, but I would love to combine wood with my other pashion of clasic and vintage cars. I was wondering who you all thought was the best person to speak to?

Cheers

Is that Penny Farthing working? Do you ride it? I used to see them racing those at Herne Hill cycle track in my cycling days.
Not that you're dating yourself there or nuffink, Paul... What were you riding - a boneshaker?

My dad used to race at Herne Hill in his youth, though he mostly raced a tandem on the road.

Hi

Yeah I made that a couple of months ago, I need to make a mk2 with a stronger back bone as that one splays out! I have got pretty good at riding it, and it gives you an amazing view! People love seeing me riding it and can't beleive that I made it! I found it really good fun to make and making the spoked wheel from scratch was a great sucess, I mean I had to make the spokes tensionable!

Cheers

Cheek   Mind you, when I was racing and had my tyres pumped up extra hard, my bike sometimes felt like a boneshaker - or maybe I was just knackered

Cheers

Quite an achievement, Dave - building a normal size wheel is difficult enough

Cheers

Cheers, I love making stuff, I do however like just trying different stuff, not one for designing first, I find a plan done after the product is allways closer to the mark! :D

Cheers

Hi Buzzy, I make beehives too. Do you also make the frames, or just the boxes? Best wishes Bill

Hi

No just assemble the frames, but me and my dad are making the brood boxes, supers, open mesh floors, crown boards and roofs. We haven't made many, maybe 4 or 5 but that is all we need, we are only beginner beekeepers, with 5 hives between us.

Do you keep bees then?

Cheers

Dave
