After trying out the sample from Nick Gibbs magazine, I spoke about it at the local joiner shop, they gave me a couple of discs to try, I am certainly converted and have bought a pack of 50, all 120 grit and they work very well indeed!!
Derek.

We've just bought the sanding block and hose and it works well. Started using Abranet on the ROS first for sanding painted finishes between coats, and are slowly changing over entirely to abranet, apart from on the lathe. We have it in grits from 100 through to 1000. I have a price list from our local supplier and they are listing many different size options and they list the rolls and the 150mm discs from p80 through to p1000.
Wizer if you let me know the size you are after I can let you know the closest size they have to it. I can also get very good prices. The 150 discs are £22-26 plus the vat for 50, 115mm x 10 mtr rolls from £30 plus VAT

I received a free sample from BW some time ago and bought the starter kit from Screwfix. I love the stuff! My wife keeps on pinching some for her wood carving and uses it folded and thinks it's great. I must get some 125 discs to try.
Gower :D

Too late Johnny. I went down to screwfix today to buy a couple of rolls. They were out of stock! But took my money anyway, they'll be in tomorrow

I would be interested to hear if they do rolls of 240g and higher? I'll keep you in mind if I need more of the small sheets.

Not to break with the tradition of contradicting myself, I bought the £10.99 sanding pad and tried it out with some abranet strips. It works very well, very very well in fact. So consider me fully hooked.

I made a zero-clearance insert for the TS out of 9mm MR MDF and sanded it down to 600g, it was as slippery as the CI.

Looks interesting. I think Ill buy the 125mm block from Screwfix and try the 50 mixed sheets on ebay for £13 ish. There seems to be an adaptor in the picture of the block. Does this mean that a standard hose will work or would I need the bespoke one?

I bought the block on it's own. I'm not sure what the adapter is supposed to fit, but it was a touch too small for my regular vacuum hose (henry). I wrapped some masking tape around it a few times and it was enough to hold it whilst vigorously sanding.

I had to do the same thing to fit my DX400 hose. Its a pain that the hose is ribbed as it catches on the edge of the timber as I sand.

PS there's a nice holder for the Abranet in this month's BW

I bought the hose as well, but realised that with the adaptor my festool hose would have fitted on anyway. The only advantage I could see is that the mirka hose is small and light and doesn't seem to get in the way too much.

What's the holder? not be a regular BW reader

Shultzy made an organiser for the small sheets.

I can confirm the Mirka Abranet is a huge improvement over the traditional sanding materials (Ali oxice, etc0

The only downside is that there are only a few outlets and while Screwfix have it, most of the trade counters don't stock it so you're better off ordering it on line rather than having to make two trips to the local Screwfix.

I'm having troubles finding an online supplier of the rolls in grits higher than 180g

Thanks Andrew, but they only do 800 and 1000g in 75mm wide rolls.

I am looking for 115mm wide rolls in 240, 320 and maybe 400

I think I'll have to use hpl's supplier.

Another Fan here.

I've just been sanding down a worktop using my Aldi palm sander & did the whole job with one sheet of arabanet - I have nothing finer than 120.
I plugged my sander into a vac cleaner - there wasnt a speck of dust in the air whilst I was doing the job.

Hope to pick up some more finer grades at Stoneleigh on Saturday.

Mailee? As an expert user would you agree the grit sizes are actually "harsher" than their equivalents on paper mediums. Ie Arabanet 120g is nearer 100g in practice.
