I've put this in the General section rather than Turning or Off topic because it is machinery specific and woodworking.....
Anyway: I have a 3ph lathe with belt change pulleys and I need to move it down the shop about 50 feet. A sparky's gonna charge me arms and legs to extend the power supply this distance, well about £70 I should think.
 been doing a bit of reading up and now totally confused.....it seems that I could get a combined inverter to give me 3 ph from single and at the same time get variable speeds. Or have I totally misunderstood? anybody got a better understanding of this or am I in grave danger of disappearing up my own wotsit.
Chris
PS - the motor is 3/4 hp.
