110v three phase into single phase

Hello, after some advice on a subject I know little of.

I have a 110v transformer for 16 and 32amp tools. I have just acquired an old 110v waterpump that I want to test, but it's three phase.

What are my options with regards to minimum cost?

How many wires does your W/P have?
you may just for a test wire the 110 pair from your transformer to 2 wires and then with a capacitor from one live to the otherwire.
This is assuming that your pump is wired in star and wants 110v between each phase pair.

How are you going to run it if it works?
Or you could buy a VFD to run it
May be easier to let a motor tester check it out for you hopefully he will have 110 3 phase available

A lot depends upon what you mean by test.

If it is as Ian says simply to see if the motor turns then a simple capacitor connecting to the third phase will prove if it spins, the direction being dependant upon which mains feed wire it's connected to.

Something like a 50mfd 230volt working.

Whether this will give you enough torque to do any actual useful pumping work/capacity is another matter.

Is the pump motor fixed at 110volt or is it by any chance dual voltage 110/220 (6 terminals with links in the connector box typical)
