And it’s still relatively early days for EV battery development.

Who is going to be surprised that China is leading the world in battery technology, they seem to be able to deliver or do where others just fall at the first hurdle. Give it another ten years and China will be the worlds new number one super power with their currency replacing the dollar.

Much the same could be sai
Not the modern range of Lithium batteries used in EV’s. And certainly not the new sodium batteries.
Much the same could be said about ICE. Fair bit of work been done on petrol, diesel was a bit of late comer developmentally; and both really got a shift on with the advent of vehicle electronics (despite increasing emissions challenges - e.g. Kawasaki's ZX10 was considered a bit of monster at launch, with its claimed 135hp. The current successor claims 197hp from the same capacity). Other fuels have had rather less work and considerably less than Li-ion, and probably less than Na-ion.
