Hi, i am in need of a recommendation. I have a Triton router which has seized and gone up in smoke. I need a new 1/2" router suitable for hand held work. What router would you recommend I have found the following

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tonino-Lamborghin ... 2a0a4acaf3

http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?a ... arch=false

I am currently leaning towards the freud router but if anyone has any other suggestions i am happy to hear about them.

cheers neil

The Freud is magic in a table but I would imagine very tiring hand held as its very big and very heavy

5.6kg would this be a problem for you ,lots of power though, depends on what you will be using it most for.

Hi neil,

how long have you had your Triton and I'm guessing it's out of warranty?

I have just bought a Triton TRB001 and have been more than impressed with it.

I hope you are happy with your next purchase.

Cheers, Si

hi, thanks for the replys. The triton is out of warranty but the annoying thing is it hasn't had much use. I actually have 2 tritons, 1 is in my table and the one that went up in smoke is my spare when B&Q were selling them off at £99. It was almost has if the spindle lock was still on even though i raised the router after the bit change and set it at my desired height. The spindle shaft is jammed as if the spindle lock is still on and the motor smoked when i switched it on. I think i am going to go for the freud even though it will only get the occassional use because i use a black & decker router for most of my hand held work.

cheers neil
