Rat Poison - a lucky escape and a plea....

If we had a few I would agree with you but we have upwards of 20 and they are undermining large sections of the garden and flowerbeds - and they are getting into the house esp the roof spaces. As the birds start to nest the rats will kill all the fledglings and eat the eggs. There is a...

Rat Poison - a lucky escape and a plea....

We have rats - par for the course in the country. Poison blocks went down last week under the deck, wired down - all done by council pest control but overseen by me as well. Gardener comes to mow the lawn yesterday so I did a quick clear up of any dog poo - to come across some that is bright...

    Flexible paint/ primer

We have a fixed skylight giving much needed daylight to a passage in the house. It is on the southside of the house and the well below the light is about 2ft deep. It gets very hot in there and has systematically shrugged off any paint that we have applied in under 6 months. Can anyone...

    I miss Junior Strassil.....

I'm not a member but I did read on another forum that it was to do with failing to remember to renew web address rights. Apparently you may need to clear caches etc to be able to access it if you are having probs. Cheers Tim

    Northern on the rocks

Its 15 per 100,000 pop. Bridgend pop is 130,000 so considering only those stats would that Bridgend has a lower than average suicide rate. But then thats the trouble with stats. As any marketeer worth their salt will tell you, you can make anything sound good. No 1 in the market sounds great...

    Trimming lippings with a router

Dan Thats a good idea - my tweak on it would be to make the support panel deeper to reduce tipping potential esp when the router is connected to a hose, which in my experience only catches at the critical moment   . Cheers Tim

    Nail Clenching

But does that not just cause the door to bounce as you hammer and thereby prevent the brace and door planks from drawing up tight? Or does that not actually matter? Cheers Tim

    Nail Clenching

What do you use below the door to stop the nails puching through into that surface and then weakening the joint as you prise it away Cheers Tim

We are looking to live out along the Niagara escarpment near Milton/ Burlington so Sarah will be going in by Go train (about 40 mins) because as you say, driving is nuts! Cheers Tim

Not for those of a nervous flying disposition

I was on the 'new' Ark Royal and the most disturbing thing to watch was the Harriers coming into hover land. They would slide in about 30ft above the flight deck and then pretty much turn the engines off and let the shocks do the work. Putting a lynx down on the back of a frigate at night in a...

Not for those of a nervous flying disposition

Indeed - badly titled clip but I bet it was pretty quiet on board for the last minute or so! When I was posted to Hong Kong, we flew in a couple of times like that, hairy stuff. The only other place I've experienced similar crosswinds is Edinburgh, where the winds off the Pentlands meet the...

Let us compare America with Europe

WHW - I think you are spot on - my mum is a US citizen (been there over 15y years) and while she likes living there very much also misses lots from here. We are about to become residents in Canada (my wife is already a citizen) and it becomes clearer as times moves on that there are huge up...

Design Ideas: Combined staircase and bookcase

Its a clever enough use of space, but I wouldn't fancy using a steep, space saver staircase with polished wood treads without a handrail  Cheers Tim
