Interesting pieces of furniture - 6

The workmanship is just staggering, as someone else said , I'd be scarred to sit on it. Imagine making all those joints !!! Must have been great to study underneath him at Parnham College I've heard it said somewhere he is the only chair maker alive today who can charge 50,000 UKP for a chair...

    Hardwood Floors in a Bathroom

There are many ceramic tiles now that are designed to look like wooden floors, I was looking at them the other day (1.2 m long ones) and they are very impressive _ I saw walnut, oak, zebrano, cherry, pine and probably there are more. They were very very impressive. Might want to consider those

    Chisel storage?

Mines a bit like what you have done, but in a cupboard, you cannot see my chisel (non carving) blades but the holes they sit in are sized in oder so very quickly I learned which was which - very happy with it.

    Bamboo flooring

We had bamboo laminated flooring in my old office, it was dammed expensive 600€ per 2.4m x 1.2 m sheet  (but I did work for the second most profitable comany in the world so that was not an issue) So it seems strong ehough, but as for the thickness of the sheets I do not know, and of...

Interesting pieces of furniture - 4

I see that Philly but finishing it to look that square is just  I guess a spindle moulder with a template and a tilting arbour might help but gee, still seems difficult to me. Oh well, but isn't it just so uplifting to be inspired to have a go at this yourself. (Mind you a few...

Interesting pieces of furniture - 4

Wonderful huh, but I just keep staring at it and thinking how in earth would I make those beveled edges to that depth! I'm really scratching my head at the moment on how to do it for an 15mm plate as the back rest of my version of his love chairs, and it's that that's causing my lack of...

Interesting Pieces of Furniture - 2

David Charlesworth, Andy King, David Savage and the Lee valley chap (whoops forgotten his name) - gee this is the place to be! I hope David does not mind me copying his chairs http://croeso.typepad.com/photos/furnit ... index.html , as it's only for me and I'm not selling then I suppose he won't

Interesting Pieces of Furniture - 2

Now that's more like it superb craftsmanship and excellent subtle design. This is way better than Becksfort's shaker stuff, good workmanship but he is not taking furniture design anywhere by slavishly copying the past. the work David Savage and his team put into these pieces are just staggering...

Everyone, As per usual I'm struggling with painting a cupboard I have made, on a fundamental level I don't like painting furniture as I like wood, but it's not that eternal struggle I'm on about I have one of those nice B&Q HVLP sprayers , but the question is what type of paint is best to...

    Anyone visited Lie Nielsen works

I called in there early December, I had prior booked and Tom suggested a quiet day in the week for me to visit, I was allowed to see everything and wander from section to section pretty much as I wanted, and alone, everyone spoke to me and were very very pleasant. I bought a few goodies from...

    Wagon vice or tail vice?

I too have an anti racking device which is simply a wooden screw with a square head, that sits within a square mortice in the vise face when fully retracted. A very useful piece of kit. Mind you Alf's is simpler to make, reminded me a lot of that guy on the BBC Dragons den who built a plastic...

    Wagon vice or tail vice?

A trad tail vice for me as you can use both the dog and the vise for clamping and holding.
