    How Many Sockets...

Fortunately my Sparky is happy to work on that basis, I've laboured for him on other occasions so he knows that I know what I am doing, I just check the spec of cable with him for the job before I start. I do believe that you can also do the work yourself and get the local council to inspect...

    Triton Routers at B&Q

Picked mine up at the Eastwood (Nottingham) B&Q yesterday. 2000w Triton for £149, still a couple left on the shelves if anybody wants them.

    It IS a monster!!

I have the 10" SIP SCMS and encountered similar issues with clearance. Fortunately I have the advantage of building my workshop around it and so built a sliding shelf for it with 100lb runners and built pull out from the benches either site to support long lengths, overall it works very well

Where can I get proper insurance for my Workshop???

I'm with more than and providing no single item is more than £2000 it's covered under the general contents insurance, I checked specifically with them about tools in the garage. The garage is suitably locked and is on the house alarm though.

    Filling gaps

Indeed, I've put 9" skirting in each room of my house as I rennovate and it runs to about £70 a room. OK it's architrave and 6" board that I biscuit joint together, but it works well.

    Filling gaps

Polyfilla isn't the best material for trying to create a profile although it would fill a gap in flat wood. For flat would you'd be best setting a new bit of wood in the hole and gluing it, possibly a bit of wood filler if required. For profile, if you can't get a match, look at some kind of...

Tis the season to....build a workshop!

That is a lot of pillars. Depending on what you're using for the joists, you could just put a pillars at the ends and then span between. Floor joists in a house are generally 15" on centre, but again depending on materials and the weight of machinery and the spans I'd be tempted to beef that...

Can you stand another workshop thread?

Some slight issues with that funny yellow ball thing in the sky, but gate now in situe. Some issues with the bottom hinge which will need resolving and the frame needs a final top coat to cover up the plugs where the screws went to hold it to the wall.

    Beech block worktop bow problem

Had the exact same problem with an offcut left over from the kitchen. Put it up on the rafter in the garage with the bow facing up and stacked a load of weight on top of it. I then forgot about it for a couple of months and came across it again this weekend - it's nice and flat again!

    Price of ply!

Depends on the thickness I guess. I pay about that price for 9mm Far Eastern. I think 5mm was about £9 a sheet and the 15mm stuff was close to £20.

    Router Table WIP

This has been an interesting thread to watch. I've been pondering on some sort of router table for a while (the Aldi one has been OK to get me started but it really is bobbins). I'm short of space so I've pondering on making a universal base of some kind and then I can mount the router table...

No, but it was funny watching her vac around the tools on the workbench

    saw table from handheld

I'm sure others will have more to contribute, however, I'd have some concerns about flipping a handheld over and mounting in a table. Issues around fence alignment and lack of a riving knife resulting in kickback spring to mind! Some people have made use of a kind of sled that they clamp to...

Can you stand another workshop thread?

Mine would be too, but SWMBO popped in last Sunday while I was pottering about and went round with the vac as she thought it was messy
