    Spiral router bits

I bought my spiral cutter from ebay - it was designed for milling metal , but works fine on wood. It cost about £10 inc postage. John

    Woodworking Genius

Yes works fine, although I have not used it in 3D mode with a cone stylus, just traced paper templates using a straight stylus, using the 3:1 reduction. I suppose I should post some pics  John

    Woodworking Genius

Certainly a genius, if not somewhat eccentric! - highly recommended I built his 3D pantograph( http://woodgears.ca/pantograph/index.html) - so his designs are practical as well as entertaining! John

How easy are these to make,,,,

I think the DVD set is a good buy. I have made a couple of his jigs and also used his Bandsaw set up info. The jig ideas and instructions are not too difficult, and since they are jigs, mistakes can be rectified before you use them on your projects. He also has some very simple but excellent...

Has anyone made the PantoRouter ?

I made the 3D pantograph (http://woodgears.ca/pantograph/index.html) earlier this year. That works fine and have been using it for simple engraving. I was wondering about the PantoRouter so look forward to your progress. The author/designer, Matthias Wandel, is a really interesting guy and...

    Shoesmith

There is a clear process within employment law for dismissing an individual In the Shoesmith case, she should of been subject to a disciplinary hearing and then dismissed for gross misconduct (incompetence). She would of had the right to appeal the dismissal, when the finding of gross misconduct...

    FOCUS in administration

Just read the following release: Kingfisher plc announces that following the appointment of administrators at Focus DIY Limited and Do It All Limited it has agreed to buy up to 31 leasehold properties for £23 million in cash. B&Q, Kingfisher's largest UK subsidiary, plans to start the process of...

    Riving Knife Height

Many thanks guys - very useful.... The RK design could continue to support the guard but still allow adjustment downward when needed. Of course, the guard would be removed and swapped for a alternative one when using this configuration. John

    Riving Knife Height

The guard is attached to the riving knife. This detaches without tools (a knurled knob retains it) and would need to be removed for grooving/trenching. My plan is to replace it with a shop made overhead guard, magnetically attached to the bed, when trenching. Steves forthcoming video about...

    Riving Knife Height

Is there any reason why the riving knife has to be higher than the blade? On my W650, it's about 20mm above the top of the blade. I want to modify it so it is level with the blade and not have to remove it when trenching. I asked Charnwood why it was above the blade, they said it was because of...

New Table saw, How do i decide????

I have the Charnwood and can recommend it. The sliding table is solid and accurately tracks parallel to the blade. However, the cast iron table does not have mitre channels so if these are important, then suggest the Axi is looked at. John

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

It seems that Festool USA give much better service to their customers. There are issues with a number of their tools but Festool USA's response seems exemplary. http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tool-problems/ Maybe the sometimes poor service we receive in the UK is an another example of...

Metabo SX450 ROS Faulty after Service

Many thanks Guys, When I first bought the sander (about 7 years ago), I seem to remember the sanding head rotated much slower. I thought there must be some kind of internal pad that acted as a brake on the head that stopped it rotating so fast. The service has certainly fixed the...

Metabo SX450 ROS Faulty after Service

I have just had my Metabo ROS serviced. The sanding head now spins round fast until I place it in contact with the work piece. I am sure there should be some kind of braking on this...would appreciate confirmation of this before I complain to the service agent. Thanks, John

Hullo from Switzerland + some "probably daft" Q's

Welcome to the forum!! You may find a suitable blade in the Rage Evolution series: http://www.screwfix.com/cats/A350419/Bl ... Saw-Blades The saw that you have purchased is a sliding mitre saw, and although a blade suitable for cutting steel may be fitted, the bearings on the saw (both sliding...

    Box Making Hardware

I have used Ian's £20 set and have found it good value. For some cheaper boxes, I have used the small Screwfix solid brass 25 x 16 mm, about £5 for a pack of 20. http://www.screwfix.com/prods/18047/Iro ... Pack-of-20 They are unfinished so I polished them with Autosol before fitting, they come...

    snow socks

A friend has them, says they work well. However, you need to remove them as soon as you are on a road without snow/ice otherwise they wear out ultra quick. Says this is reasonably quick once you get the hang of it but it is a bit of a flaff John
