    Keir Starmer

Maybe that is why the disillusionment has set in so rapidly with Starmer?

As they say, people used to go into politics to do good - now they go in to do well.

    Combined Flu ***

Just looking at my vaccine passport I have had 4 - 3 Pfizer then a Moderna - the last in November 2022. I am not being offered a fifth. Cast your minds back to 2021/2 when Covid was an unknown and governments were out-competing each other to be more draconian. The vaccines did help get things...

I think it's called "free speech" - enjoy it whilst it is still allowed.

Laser Level Woes - Bosch GCC + LR7

Looks like you are almost 100% correct - there seems to be a setting on the laser level itself to make it pulse (or whatever) so the LR7 can detect it. I had been looking at the LR7 - not the GCC. Thanks.

Laser Level Woes - Bosch GCC + LR7

GLL 3-80 CG - see https://www.bosch-professional.com/gb/en/products/gll-3-80-cg-0601063T03 Scroll down on that page to the bottom and under accessories you will see tripods etc and the LR7. Other LR models only work with red - but the LR7 is supposed to work with green as well.

Anyone used a Planex wall / ceiling sander ?

The videos show it being used on "popcorn" - which I guess is US for Artex. Anyone with a 60s / 70s house with Artex ceilings might fond one useful - I have to say I second the comment to get the Bosch one for an amateurand save some money. Also, Festool seem to make 3 - make sure if you do...

Laser Level Woes - Bosch GCC + LR7

Thanks - The laser seems fine - battery charged, level, unlocked. It puts out lines just fine. The LR7 is a receiver that is supposed to pick up the line even when invisible to naked eye and give up/down indications - this is the bit that fails.

    Keir Starmer

I have to say, after 3 months he is doing awfully badly - he is looking to be even worse that Wilson / Callaghan at this rate. But, as my third law of politics - If you vote against someone (the Tories) rather than for someone, then you wont get what you want.

Laser Level Woes - Bosch GCC + LR7

I have a Bosch GCC green 3D laser level - normally I use it on its own indoors. Needing to use it outdoors, I bought an LR7 - which basically beeps then does nothing - no up or down indicators - even when testing indoors when I can see the laser and I can be certain in lines up. Anyway...

Folkstone Fixings (FFX) placed into Administration

So true - there was an idiot in Ipswich who did almost that. The town centre is dying -> we get less revenue -> we need to increase parking fees to raise money -> rinse and repeat. I remember a garden shop I used to frequent being one of the first to appreciate this - and move out.

Yes - those of you with smart meters may be particularly at risk of a remote off switch . . .

Folkstone Fixings (FFX) placed into Administration

I think some of the blame for the closure of high street shops lies with those wonderful people - politicians. National politicians who oversee business rates that seems to hit retail outlets harder than warehouses. Local politicians (plus private car park operators) who make driving to the...

    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

Not only that, but as a result UK electricity costs more than in rival countries - helping their industries out compete ours. It is nice for the workers losing their jobs to have Tata to aim at, but the true villains are much nearer home.

    New Diesel & Petrol Ban

But it is all in aid of "net zero". Thank you Theresa May and Edward Milliband. Of course, we will now buy our steel from China or India where it will continue to be extracted using coal - so making sweet FA difference to global CO2 - in fact it will make it worse as there are those transport...

I wonder what the Conservatives will be promising for 2029 . . . of if there will be another U turn before then. Maybe a few UK factory closures will concentrate minds?

    Waste disposal

The brown bin tax has backfired, I think. Around us, Ipswich BC did not charge and saw composting and recycling rates increase. Meanwhile others, like my own, charged and saw recycling rates decrease. Why? Because many just put the garden waste in black sacks and hide it in the middle of the...

    Waste disposal

I recall talking to a garage owner who used to burn sump oil to heat his workshop - until the council decided to get involved and require expensive licences after which he said it was cheaper to pay for collection. Will councils do the same with wood?
