using red and black cable for a renovation addition circuit

Davy just a thought, Is it permissable to mark up the ends with appropriate coloured sleeving, and if done well your average BCO probably won't mind if it serves it's purpose. Cheers Alan

Good price / supplier for feather edge for playhouse?

Gidon I used these recently for some fencing, I appreciate it's not close to you but might help in your pricing. I have bought slightly cheaper on a collect cash only basis but there was an 8 week backlog. EDIT in my early morning haze just twigged you have bought already, anyway may still be of...

    Recently Completed

Dom that really is a beautiful piece of work. May I ask you say that all wood is solid, can you tell me how wide the panels in the door are and how thick as they seem to be one piece thanks. I am tasked to build something similar and if it comes out half as good as that I will be well pleased...

    Outside electricity meter box

Down the wall and looped back underneath for entry I would expect, but I am only guessing, as it seems the only logical way to achieve what you want. Based on the old rules they will be happy to oblige and you pay a fixed fee for moving the supply which automatically includes a fee for extending...

    Copper pipe cost/quality at screwfix

Thanks Jake will call in I have to return one of their crappy pipe cutters that cuts a nice spiral down the pipe instead of a circular cut. When I investigated the roller are not perfectly at right angles to the cutting wheel. Alan

    Copper pipe cost/quality at screwfix

Thanks Jake I've just been quoted £6 a metre +vat by my local plumbcentre, he said if I went in he'd be able to do a little more, but freely admitted he can't beat wickes or B&Q . Screwfix are £3.10 a metre on a bundle. I don't suppose you can recall B&Q's price can you, because if I can get an...

    axminster bandsaw SBW4300

The fence isn't fixed at the back on mine. I would imagine it's a lock down once the fence cutting width has been adjusted just to stop any deviation under the pressure of cut, and as such is not cause for concern under the setting up process. Perhaps an owner can confirm. Philly? Escudo...

    axminster bandsaw SBW4300

DW I am not sure if you mean you expect the fence to be readily changed in an instant or adjusted if required. My version of the 4300 has 4 allen bolts that go through the top of the fence down into the part that slides on the front rail so can be adjusted there. I have no dificulty with mine...

    Copper pipe cost/quality at screwfix

Martin I thought one of us had slightly the wrong end of the stick :-) makes a change for it not to be me Roger, the joint couldn't have been soldered properly properly then or it wouldn't have pulled out, so illustrating the point most failures are down to installation, and to be fair I think...

    Copper pipe cost/quality at screwfix

No because that's not the purpose of a spring. a spring is for freehand bending. I must say when using quality pipe I have never had a problem hence my question. Alan

    Copper pipe cost/quality at screwfix

To satisfy your curiosity, as an American you probably know about the class action lawsuit brought about by some of the early "plastic". Who is to say this "new" plastic is any better, speaking as an individual here not as someone making a living from it, the manufacturers?. I am laying my pipe...

    Copper pipe cost/quality at screwfix

Hi I am doing a major overhaul of my groundfloor heating, and after umming and harring about whether to use plastic I decided on copper and digging up the floor to fit galvanised duct tray. I need to buy in about 50-60 metres of 22mm pipe and screwfix seem to be about the best price. The thing...

    Osborne EB-3 Advice sought

I would have thought the easiest solution is to add some frictionless material 2-3mm thick to the bottom of the rail like.... http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp? ... e=1&jump=0 Perhaps using a high qualty double sided tape Cheers Alan

Excalibur 805 sliding table sits high

I think in an ideal world the sliding table should be level with the main table...but just proud by a few thou, but that should be the whole sliding table. In other words if you put a straight edge across the sliding table the edge should be consistently a couple of thou from touching the main...

    Hands up.....

Damn you've just reminded me I didn't enjoy it that much after all :-) Seriously though it was my first long distance walk and I made the classic mistake of carrying too much stuff. On the first day I made it to the youth hostel with a swagger John Wayne would have been proud of :-). The thing...

    Carpenters Pencil

Don't be silly that's what the flat cap is for, to slide your pencil in the gap over the peak, obviously something to do with northerners inherently slippery ears not capable of retaining a pencil. Alan

    Advice wanted on new Ni-Cads

Ike You were misinformed and yet advised partially correctly. Do the first charge as advised by Hitachi, when using for the first few times you probably won't get full capacity (although it's recognised makita use high quality cells) . When discharging you will soon know when the power has...

    Coffee?

Arghhh Steve you had me up to that point you cannot be serious, yes the vessel is important to the taste experience but ...not that much :-) After all there is always the option to drink straight from the bottle isn't there? :-) thus avoiding the Bells. Buying decent coffee in those cardboard...
