    Drying partaily sawn wood

..looks good but it's not at all hygenic for a toilet/washroom even if it was oiled/varnished...(there's always 1 spolier..). ..but I'm sure your local tree surgeon might be able to help if you don't have a local saw mill. Oak would be good looking but easily goes black when in contact with wet...

    farmhouse table

Most of the tables I have collected off freecycle had Oak tops with Beech legs all stained to match each other - I couldn't tell the difference when in their original states... but I personally dislike dark stain (a lot). I've seen a lot of painted bases too but it makes me susupicious of it...

    Butler's table

I love the idea of secret drawers but so far I've chickened out of giving it a go.. how would the hollow style/rail (?) be made & jointed to the leg ?? I'm imagining secret side made up as if for a drawer. I'm also busy convincing myself I could never make matching legs.. 1) how did you make...

    best material for campervan cupboards?

Hello Unib, I'm no expert but I worked in a vaneered panel factory a long time ago.. & I cannot remember seeing any veneered plywood at all then & very little since..isn't it a bit too uneven to start with & would need a good sanding flat first ? It would withstand moisture & take a screw...

My first infill plane. I love it !

hhmm.. I like the idea of plane 'kit'. The front feels very natural to hold- as does it all. I'd love to get the standard where I could make something so wonderfully tactile & great to use...even it it was 1/2 made to start with. Chisel handles would be a start.

    I know I've been very naughty . . . BUT ~

It was obtained along with a bruise on my chest when a small off cut kicked back off my low lying table saw that had had the rifing knife removed for cutting dadoes & not refitted... I've only just got all the sensation back in that part of my forehead some 4+ years later. I was cut to the skull...

Heads up - Wood and tool sale in Ledbury Sat 5th Jan

Hiya Greg, Just realised my phones been off - sorry. I got your text & I'm glad you enjoyed it even if it wasn't rich pickings for you. A vise is a result for me chief ! I'll be in touch to pop across to collect it asap. I'm surprised at people paying silly money for stuff though...perhaps...

My first infill plane. I love it !

I have sharpened it but not as much as I want (ie all very even & smart as well as sharp)..it'll take some time that..but it works wonderfully as it is ! I could bring it round sometime but I'm sure you've seen it all before. I had another to choose from that looked like a deepsea divers boot &...

    Threaded thingy whatsit

Yes..but they could be used in a wooden table leg if need be (but not with the plastic insert obviously)...better than a bolt in the sleeve as was the OP's thoughts (I think)

My first infill plane. I love it !

Hello Gents, I have recently been to an Aladdin's cave of old tools & came out with a few box loads & I thought I'd show you this beauty.. any ideas on a possible maker? It has a 3 names stamped on outside & under the blade.. Lord Fielden (I think) was particularly fond of his stamp. The...

..are you looking to fit an adjustable foot to level your table? .. if so something like this? http://oxfordhardware.co.uk/khxc/ccp0-p ... FM8TG.html in a captured bolt or sleeve.... I've thought to use this but replace the plastic foot with matching wood or some such camoflage.

Heads up - Wood and tool sale in Ledbury Sat 5th Jan

Thanks for the heads up Greg ..but hell, that could be dangerous...If I bidded online & only won 1 thing it'd not be economical to go collect it.. so I'd have to win a fair bit to make it worth my while..that's where the danger is. I might also forget the additional charges (VAT & various...
