    1/2" or 12mm router bits ?

Athough it might work using the wrong diameter cutter in a collet is potentially very dangerous. The cutter wont be gripped as well as it should and could easily be ejected from the machine under load. I think the only advice here is to use the right diameter cutter in the right collet and avoid...

    Laminate floor

You can use the colorfill solvent that is used for sealing joints in laminate worktops. Should be able to get it from b&q. Jon

    sharpening costs

Sounds like you were ripped off. I pay about £9 + Vat for a set of 3 12inch planer blades which is about the same as what jake payed. Jon

    1/2" or 12mm router bits ?

Hi vjeko 1/2inch is pretty much standard in UK. 12mm is available but not very common. For mail order you could try Wealden Tool Company or Axminster Power Tools for CMT or Perform cutters. I dont know if these companies supply to europe but both companies have good customer service so i would...

Circular Saw Blades: Storage and Handling

My saw doctor calls on a monday and brings back sharpened blades the folowing monday. Cost varies on number of teeth. A rip blade probably £5 a fine crosscut blade £10-£12. Set of 3 12inch planer blades about £9. If you have any local cabinet or joinery workshops they should be able to put you...

Circular Saw Blades: Storage and Handling

I generally get about 7-8 sharpenings out of a saw blade. The reduced kerf because of the slight taper of the teeth shouldnt make much difference only a very small ammount of carbide is removed by sharpening. Jon

Need a good ripping + crosscut saw blade

I have a freud LU2A combination blade which is very good. I tend to use seperate rip and crosscut blades but this is a good comprimise and saves a lot of blade changing. If you can get away with a 10inch blade there are some cheap here http://www.woodworkuk.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =16&t=2434 jon

Circular Saw Blades: Storage and Handling

When a blade is ground the kerf stays the same only the faces are ground so no problem with the riving knife. Jon

How do you store your power tools?

I keep the tools i use regularly such as routers and sanders on open shelving and other tools that i use less regularly or are expensive in their boxes. jon

Buying a Wadkin Table Saw - Transport Issues!

Ive just moved my saw (800KG). Its amazing what you can move with a car trolley jack and a few lengths of steel tube for rollers. jon

    Polar Bears and 3 phase!!!

It will probably be cheaper to get an inverter to run 3 phase of a single phase supply. I had a quote of 10K to put 3 phase into some unused farm buildings i was going to use as a workshop. It involved putting up 5 -poles so i think you will still be looking at around 2k even if the 3 phase...

Fitted Cabinets, which material would you use?

I have one of these. http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Lame ... 785588.htm It has gone up by £300 since i bought mine. It is an extremely accurate and well made machine. Due to the way the cutter block works the planed wood has a shear cut so the finish is excellent. Jon

    Any idea what this is?

Meranti is pretty much the same colour as sapele so i doubt its that either. Jon

    Internal glazed units

Looking good so far. I am slightly confused as to how you are going to get the units into the frames or replace them if they get broken. Jon

Doing your bit by buying British, can you?

I would be surprised if sedgwick import parts for there machines. When I bought my Sedgwick Spindle and Planer Thicknesser I was told by the sales rep that they were 100% manufactured in the uk but that was 7 years ago so things may have changed. jon

    Any idea what this is?

My guess would be afromosia. Sapele tends to be a bit pinker. Jon

    Wadkin RAL colour

My pillar drill is not that bright so i presume it isnt water blue. I thought that colour was on the more modern machines. Mavericks saw looks pretty old so i would assume it would originally be the grey colour. jon

    Wadkin RAL colour

My Wadkin pillar drill is painted in that colour with the cast wadkin logo painted red. I think the paintwork is original and the machine probably made in the 1940's. Jon

can you recommend a belt sander ?

I have got a Festool BS 75 E which is excellent but almost twice your budget. For your budget I would also look at the makitas or the blue Bosch ones. It depends on the type of work you do but if you need to sand large flat areas it would be worth getting a sander that can take a sanding frame...

Wshop floor frame spacing help req

If you are using 8X4ft sheets i would go for 407mm (16inch) centres so that your bearers match up with your sheet goods. I think 600mm will be too wide apart especially if you are going to put machinery in there. Jon
