Do you all keep the original boxes for those tools that didnt come with a plastic case, or do you have a better way of storing them?

I have some big plastic boxes from b & Q but I find them annoying to have to dig thru to extract the jigsaw at the bottom.

Most of my power hand tools are in cases as supplied with them but one or two I have had to buy small plastic tool boxes for. I do still have my big Freud router in it's cardboard box that it came in as I just haven't got around to buying a box for it yet. I do like to keep them in their respective cases to keep them safe and clean. (Well as clean as I can as they are usually covered in sawdust anyway)

I keep the tools i use regularly such as routers and sanders on open shelving and other tools that i use less regularly or are expensive in their boxes.

Power tools I use every day in the workshop uch as routers and sanders are simply on shelves.

Tools I use out on site such as cordless drills, jigsaw, and Fein saw are in the boxes they came in.

Certain tools, like my angle grinder, didn't come with a case. I've adapted an old cordless drill case for it.

I keep power tools in a tall narrow unit (small footprint) in the 'shop. Each tool has a it's own custom sized slot so it's quite compact, the 'shop dehumidifier sits at the bottom. The unit is just made from oddments of chipboard screwed together...nothing fancy  - Rob
