    SWITCHING ISPs

I've never done it but in IE there is an 'Import/Export' option under 'File' which should give you what you are looking for? In Firefox you first choose 'Bookmarks - Organise Bookmarks' and do it from the 'File' menu there. Is there a special interface with AOL because if you are using a...

    Treated 1"x10" and 1"x6"Timber

Treated with what? - if treated with a water-borne preservative I would be more worried about it being too wet and shrinking after you have fitted it. If it's only had a surface coating then it will be removed in the planing anyway. I'd sent it back and get some dry, untreated timber for...

    Notaries Public

Notary Publics are a special service here and the one I went to see last year for advice was charging the national going rate - £180/hr and he charges per 20 min (£60 min fee). I haven't used him yet but his advise was to make sure I had everything ready the first time - he was happy to do as...

Try doing a System Restore (Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore) to a time prior to the update and see if that fixes the problem? Brian

Does spam on this forum annoy you?

I just assume that anyone who has to resort to spam obviously hasn't got anything of any real value to sell so the best option is to just ignore them. Brian

Hardwood for jigs / fences etc.

Thankfully it was only a small quantity and was worth it for the convenience - some jobs you just want to get finished! I just hate knowing I'm paying over the odds. As I said, I'm not a big fan of this timber anyway. Brian

Hardwood for jigs / fences etc.

Thankfully I don't use it very often, by choice, and I didn't need a lot. I can't lay my hands on the receipt but I seem to remember it worked out over £70 cu ft - admittedly it was PAR but that was with discount. Their advertised price is even worse. Brian

    Bacon sarni....

I was driving home a few weeks ago and there was a discussion on the radio about how bacon is now bad for you. I took note so pulled in to my local supermarket to pick some up! I bet the sale of bacon that day was above the norm across the country. There's nothing like a bacon and egg...

Hardwood for jigs / fences etc.

ByronBlack Do you have a special supplier - I had to buy some meranti from my BM a few weeks ago and I wouldn't have used the word 'cheap'!! Brian

Hardwood for jigs / fences etc.

Hi Si A good choice would be beech - it works easily and is quite cheap (I think ~£24 cu ft?). Also, speak with the people in the yard at your timber merchants and they may have offcuts and will generally be very helpful. Brian

    Long Dovetail Cutter? (Router)

Short of trying to get your tutors to invest in a collet extension it looks like you will be honing your hand tool skills! You could also modify your jig a little to enable you to rough out most of the cut on a bandsaw? Brian

    Long Dovetail Cutter? (Router)

Why not use your jig on the table saw - set the blade to 14 deg (or whatever) to cut the sides and trim it up with a chisel? - no extra cost apart from the scrap to try it out. Brian

    Plywood

From experience most plywood is never as flat as you want it to be. You will have more success by laminating two 6mm pieces between two flat cauls. Brian

    Drying wood

Hi Michael In principle it sounds a good idea but it is nothing like kiln drying where you have control over temperature AND humidity - it is the combination of the two that reduces the moisture content of the wood in a controlled way. Simply using heat will invariably lead to drying defects...
