    Tuning a No.7

Oops, until Alf pointed it out I had not noticed that it had a Record level cap! Oh well, its a user not a collectable so I will stick with it. I've just had a quick look in the shed. Despite the photos showing it as blue the paint on the frog is a black. A quick dating using the interweb...

    Tuning a No.7

Mick, Mouth is square, or as far as I can see by eye. Camera trick is making it look skewed in the photo. Sole, as best as I could measure it using a cheapo aluminium rule, seems flat. Toby

    Tuning a No.7

Sorry, another thread on tuning an old plane. General ideas I have picked up from other threads and links. Couple of specific questions though. I picked up this Stanley No.7 (Made in the US, seller was very particular about his point) at a bootfair back end of last year. It has since sat in my...

    SOF kayak in the works

Song of the paddle forum, self build section is good for building canoes. http://www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/forum/ ... ild-Canoes Although it's not just limited to canoes. I see a certain Jorge has posted a build on a very similar sea kayak to this one ;-) Jorgoz - I do need to paddle more...

    SOF kayak in the works

Very elegant. I was going to say beautiful, but that adjective has already been used by people who got in before me. Have you tested her yet? I would be scared to take her out, but then I've always paddled plastic boats so the thought of something that breaks when you hit rocks is not...

    Router table insert

Lead in pin would be good but not essential. Assuming we don't get the pins, or they don't add anything to the weight, do you want us to start paying you the P&P now, or wait until you've actually posted and got the final price? Toby

    Coming soon!

Bob, not sure which tool you are using but I quite like the BizAgi process modeller at the moment. http://www.bizagi.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=95&Itemid=107&lang=en You drag and drop the links and actions, it connects and moves them round automatically so they don't do...

Still having forum issues logging in and posting

I use Opera and recently also picked up the logging in bug. I've just deleted my ukw cookies to see if that has any effect. I don't run antispam. It could be the antivirus but I can't see why that would have an effect.

    Devon Cornwall Road Trip.

And there's always something else to explore! Thanks I didn't know about that one, another for a rainy day. Driving times: As a rule of thumb I calculate everything being about 1.5 hours from Exeter due to the geography of the roads. Truro is about the limit of that though. The A30 and the A38...

    Forum

I suspect you have worked it out from the wikipedia page but the hosts file is your local variant of DNS (Domain Name System). This is checked first and then the DNS servers for a name lookup. Using this you can theoretically use any name to refer to the IP address, instead of the full name. So...

    Child Trust Funds...

I recently set one up. I think it was with the Childrens Mutual through Coop financial. It's an ethical stakeholder. I read lots of info and got rather confused but in the end decided it was quite easy. All the sites seem to give the same information which is about the major types. Cash - safe...

    30mph!

equal number of accidents per kilometer != safer. Motorways are the place you are least likely to have a crash per mile. This is due to a number of factors, but longer sight distances, lack of tight curves, separation of opposing traffic streams and opportunities to pass slower vehicles are...

    LN/LV price movements at Axminster

Been thinking about buying a veritas dovetail saw. I thought about it before xmas but decided I didn't really need it and the vat increase would only be in the region of a quid or so when I did get round to it. Just checked Axminster today and the price has risen from £41 to £50. That's a 22%...

    New newel post

I'm sure there's a professional who can provide a much better answer but here's an amateurs report while they respond. My father had to do this recently. He bought a drill guide (like this, but I don't think it was an axminster one)...
