    Aquarium support / storage

Hi Miles There are some surface routers but they are really suited to CNC machines. Bearing guided trimmers: As you are only doing short runs I would suggest the Triple flute trimmers from Titman BGT903 as they will give a sharp finish. However take note with the comment about extreme heat build...

    Aquarium support / storage

Ok. I'm with it now. Promhandicam's solution is best (trimming router with bearing)but it means working at a difficult angle. I think (will check when I get to the office later and can look at a catalogue) there are some bottom only cutting routers which could be suitable for the way you are...

    Dado Blades what and where.

I might upset a few here but my two penneth.... Current regs state that any multiple part cutterhead/set should be "pinned" to prevent spinning of parts... You cant pin a dado head, so IMHO they have been made illegal (EN847-1 Regs). and I am aware that they are still being sold. additionally...

    Spindle moulder block cutters

Hmm...Yes. Quite an old block and strictly doesnt conform to the EN 847-1 regs, though I understand a lot of home/small users are still using this type of head. I havent been able to source those sort of knives for probably 6 or 7 years.

    Aquarium support / storage

The broken cutter was fresh from the trend selection box and had never been used. The total cut length was as shown - about 20 cm tops. there seems to be wear towards the bottom of the shank or is it just the angle of the image The cutter issue that I may have is with the trimming of the...

    Cutting Solutions

you cannot assume the profile on the knife is what will be produced on the timber. the seating angles and hook on the cutterhead adjust what is produced. when have you ever put the knife square against the timber and found if totally matches the profile? I have repeatedly asked for the knives...

    Aquarium support / storage

Hi Miles. Thanks for the pointer to your problem. First thing. The picture of the broken router cutter shows a lot of wear around the shank. that is not good. It can be indicative of the wrong size collet for the shank or a worn collet. or could be the bearings are on their way out. That could...

    Cutting Solutions

sorry. I give up I cant cure a problem on the angles that hasnt existed since these blocks were designed and given BG Test in Germany. you will not listen to advise about cutting angles you dont understand. the knives have been made to exacting tolerances (I accept the locking situation on the...

    Cutting Solutions

Yes that is part of what is said, but I am surprised at that because they are standard knives. the other bit about parallel is referring to relief angles on the knives which prevent burning and damaging the carbide and allow sufficient area for glue to be applied.

    Cutting Solutions

thanks Jeff, as I have no idea what you are talking about perhaps you would be kind enough to post a couple of pictures so I can see what you mean. parallel to the cutterhead????????? what should be parallel to the cutterhead? as you are in France I cant just pop over to see what you arte...

Helix cutter heads for thickness planers

I dont disagree except for the price and you can remove more material with the spirals. Tersa heads with integral shaft are somewhere close to 2k to fit to an old machine. they are fitted to knew machines at a lower price. Give me a shout next time you want some new knives ...... you may have...
