Statistics - not my strong point

Provided you have 50 different sets of 6 numbers, your chance of winning the jackpot is indeed 50 in 14 million, or 280,000 to 1. Your chance of being the only winner and scooping the entire jackpot however is dependent on total ticket sales and who else has the winning numbers. Assuming all 4...

    Automatic Feeding Resaw Fence?

That is actually very clever and very simple - genius idea if you do lots of resawing on boards less than a foot long  Cannot decide whether the limitation is going to be the length of the draw slide or the distance between the weight and the floor. Getting the jig parallel to the blade...

    Blades from the US?

Yup, several suppliers in fact, but the most commonly recommended one is Flying Dutchman blades from Mikes workshop: http://www.mikesworkshop.com/ Good blades, good price and good service! Steve.

    Second hand scrollsaw

Hi Roger, never heard of the make and to be honest, if it only takes pin ended blades you are probably better off keeping your £50 in your pocket IMHO. Happy to be corrected by someone who has one, but that does sound a bit expensive compared to the SIP level of scroll saw that is generally...

    Banking Industry

Rich, you seemed to be pointing out that lending money is a bad thing, and that if something was wanted it needed to be saved for. I was pointing out that thats an admirable sentiment (my reference to the moral highground) but not entirely practical in any society and never has been. Apologies...

    Banking Industry

What is it like up there on the moral high ground Rich? Got a good view? Unless you also saved for an awfully long time I suspect you also have a mortgage? What about your car? Always have enough put buy in case of breakdown or write off in an accident? While it is nice to think we are all...

    Buying Lumber

But what are you constituting as wasteage Wizer? Splits shakes and knots that make the timber unsuitable for your purpose? Can you specify boards that do not contain these or is it a case that you get what you get and if you dont select it you get what those who can select have rejected? I have...

    Absurd art world

Thanks for the reasoned argument and explanation punkrockdad  Shakey, I think most of us (I certainly was) referring to 'modern art' rather than pictures by the 'masters'. I use the term modern art to loosley define an object which any competent person could produce without the need to...

    FREE BOOKS OFFER

Oh dear. 4 posts and all of them with a link to the same website. Not affiliated to it by any chance are you? Steve.

    Rats

Only think you can do is to eliminate all sources of food other than your poison. That might be easier said than done if you have chickens but its the only way to get at them. Otherwise they simply do not get enough of the poison to make a difference. Minimal feed in chicken run, store stocks...

    3D letters .....

Brilliant, many thanks Gill - I now see what you mean! Steve.

    3D letters .....

Hi Gill, I am intrigued by your setup for rounding over pieces - do I have this right: you use a dremel (or similar) inverted with a round over bit akin to a normal router in a small scale - fair enough. Does the bit therefore have a bearing guide on it to stop it going through the workpiece is...

    Absurd art world

Very happy to agree that its a pretentious load of old twaddle, to put it politely! However since none of us are ever likely to be able to afford several million quid for a decomposing carcass in a glass case or a light switch that doesn't work I don't have a major problem with it - artists are...

    iPods and generic MP3 players

Not quite sure I understand this. I plug my ipod into my home PC, my laptop and my work PC without any trouble at all. Nothing lost from the ipod at all, I just use my work PC to play music which is stored on the ipod - like accessing files from any other plug in drive. Steve.

    1.5KW extractor 16A supply

No worries! Are you allowed to do all this in a rented house? Not sure my previous landlords would have been pleased if I had rewired their properties  If so, getting in a spark would be the way to go for a quote at least. Steve.

    1.5KW extractor 16A supply

OK, it really depends on your setup. I presume your 2 way CU in the garage is fed from the house CU? First consideration is the cable rating from the house CU to the garage one. Will this handle an additional 16A load? Second consideration is the number of spare ways in the garage CU. If there...

    1.5KW extractor 16A supply

Sorry, but from the questions you are asking I would recommend you seek a spark for a professional installation. It shouldn't be too expensive as its not a major job. Use of words like 'thingy' leads me to believe electrician may not be your day job  Steve.

    Sutton Coldfield Marquetry Group

Too far away I am afraid Gill. Sounds like a nice idea to have practice veneers for beginners, very friendly of them. Hope it keeps going for you! Steve.

    Whats your day job?

Senior lecturer in cerebrovascular genetics - looking for the genes that contribute to strokes and heart attacks basically, although any disease will do! Steve.
