Hi folks,

Is there a particular supplier of scrollsaw blades from the US that people tend to use? I bought a scrollsaw a few years ago and I remember ordering some blades from across the pond but only recently got to use them - I was immediately struck by just how good they are, the problem is I can't remember where I got them from! D'oh!

Blades are a very personal thing I have found. A blade that one person loves another thinks is rubbish! lol. Here is another couple of sites you might want to look at. One is Pegus and the other Olsen, I think. The Wooden Teddy Bear also sells Olsen, I think.

Worth pointing out that Sloans say they don't ship outside the USA, the others do (according to their web sites, though I had to search a bit to find out!).

I agree with Noel that blade choice is very individual! For example I often find with a tricky cut in soft, thin wood that I go back to Niqua blades from Hobbies of Dereham, generally not rated as in the top three, because they are less aggressive and do not cut ahead of my thoughts. On the other hand for scrolling round the edge of very dense MDF skirting boards which I was doing the other day, something really sharp and tough is what you want.

You are right, Chrispuzzle, I had forgotten that Sloans don't sell outside the States. I have dealt off the others so I know they are ok.

It's funny you mention using those blades because they are less aggressive....I use Olsen #2/0 on intricate cuts in thin timber for the same reason.

Noel
