    Cutting copper

Cool - what do you plan to do with them? Are they decorative in their own right or do they need embedding within something such as a timber ground? Steve

Interest rates - timeout on good rates

but not wiser, if you were banking on a continued 12% return on your investments to survive  Steve

    Axminster AW10BSB2 tablesaw - ORDERED!

Was having a chat with the Axminster staff at Bobbing just before xmas and was told they were not doing a 10% after xmas as 'people have come to expect it'. They were also not doing the gift sets and bargains on small tool items and consumables they usually did round the base of an xmas tree for...

    Should have known Better !

Are you using Clarke blades as well? Try a decent blade and see whether you get a more acceptable cut rate. The drift is due to the way cheap/poor quality blades tend to be stamped from sheet stock which leaves a burr on one side. Try flying dutchman blades from Mike - I suspect it will improve...

    Ye Olde Kentish Bash ** 6th March 2010 **

So long as I don't forget Valentines Day on Sunday (number of reminders I've had I shouldn't!) then I am in - may have to come over by motorbike though so no lift share I am afraid. Steve

A New and Excellent Source for Recipes

Wheat intolerance is not that rare - my son has it, and its common enough that all the major supermarkets stock 'free from ranges'. It is rarer that Coeliac disease, but not so rare that supermarkets cannot make a profit from it. Believe me, given the price of these ranges the womens magazine...

    Suggestion for wiki/sticky post

Its a nice idea, but generally there are so few saws for the UK market that the adage of 'you get what you pay for' is very apt indeed. I can think of multiple saws for the bottom end of the market and very few at the top end. The general rule of SIP for beginners, Axminster AWFS18 for...

    Small Wooden Toys. Advice please.

Welcome! One way of approaching this is to wander into your local bookshop and just browse until something catches your eye. Most decent sized shops have books on wooden toys as its a popular form of woodworking. I must admit to having far more more plans and books then I will ever make! The...

    Reclaimed oak flooring

160 sq meters is a huge area! Where abouts in London is it? It should still be useable as you say, although possibly not as flooring. Someone will take it off you on e-bay but if you can thickness it down first you will get alot more for it. Steve

    Pope's Visit - cost

Sorry guys and gals, but genetically you are all Human and have African origins. Pre African origins you start to get into different species. Any 'origin' mentioned that is not African is simply a result of Human migration and not an origin in any 'starting' sense. Anything else is simply...

    Rycotewood

Deneb Puchalski is doing the rounds of the Axminster stores before the Rycotewood event - anyone know if there will be any discounts on LN stuff to grease the slope a bit - cannot make Rycotewood but could possibly make Axminster at Bobbing on 11th when Deneb is there demonstrating  Steve

First Commission and new web site

Hi Mal, I looked at your website but couldn't see the commission picture you spoke of. If I can be brutally honest, your website could do with a little TLC - correction of the spelling, aligning and resizing of the pictures and so on. All the elements are there but it could possibly be a little...

    Pope's Visit - cost

He used to be, now he seems to be a bumbling old fella that repeats himself an awful lot and attempts to break the world record for the number of books published by one writer in a year  The Selfish Gene and The Blind Watchmaker were good, with a scientific background appropriate to...

    tenuous iPad link

And therein lies my gripe with the iPad. Is it a mini laptop with touch screen functionality or is it a glorified media viewer - capable of displaying stuff but not processing stuff. If I have to buy an optional keyboard, mouse, storage drive etc etc then it loses its portability and a laptop is...

Hi new here. Jigsaw advice please.

Welcome! The forum search function at the top of the page will be helpful for stuff on basic saws, blade types and the like as these questions are often asked. As for jigsaws, the search function will again provide some helpful info. For video tutorials, Carter has a couple of videos on you tube...
