    A good boot

My local boot sale is usually full of the sort of tat you would'nt buy from new so I was pleased with todays haul of Victorian treasure for the princely sum of £5.50. Five nice moulding planes at a quid each and a Sorby Kangaroo brand tenon saw for 50p. The Sorby saw is a 14", but as the first...

    Nutters

Hampshire Police won a test case at the Netley Traction Engine rally, along the lines of. If the Public may take their vehicles on to private land, then that land becomes subject to all of the road traffic acts! So vehicles have to road worthy, drivers have to be of age, etc, etc.

Are you this enthusiastic about your hobby?

Totally spoilt his recording by shouting over the 'heritage' sound. Hate to think how loud he would get if he saw something unique like two Lanc's flying over unexpectidly as I did yesterday.

    Hopping mad

Do as they ask, injure (slightly) yourself in the process, ands then sue the hell out of 'em. They have a duty of care you are their premises by right.

    Auger Bits

I have some W. Marples & Sons large diameter ones up to 2 1/4" inch most of the big ones seem to have only cutting edge, with the other edge squared off, and no nicking edge on that side either. Is this normal for the larger diameter auger bits. I post a pic, but the camera batteries are flat...

    problems with metrication

What ever you do, don't work in centipedes (sorry centimeters) these are the work of the devil and have to be beaten out of school leavers. Mill's and meters are fine, nothing else is needed.

5000 scooterists with a ticket to Ryde

Took No 1 Grandson to see the great scooter gathering on Ryde front today. Scooters arn't my thing (more of a BSA owner), but there were some fantastic machines on display, and when they set off on their ride-out along the sea-front, the noise is deafening, the two-stroke fumes choking, and the...

    Stair spindle spacing question

If I making it I would half the last gap and have two equal last spacings, another posibility is to fill in the last gap, or fatten the face of the post. G

Bet my tap-wrench is bigger than yours!

No I have no idea what size tap would be used with that thing, even my 1" square drive 1 1/2" Whit taps would snap if you tried to use them with that size wrench. Gareth

Bet my tap-wrench is bigger than yours!

Found this amongst a pile of junk, had to keep it, its 53" tall, and very heavy - too good to scrap!

Outward opening doors - a cautionary tale

    Lights Out Monday 4th August 2014 10:00 - 11:00 PM

Britain lost more senior officers pro rata then any other nation involved, a junior sub would be lucky to last six weeks. Forget the Lions led by Donkeys rubbish of the late 60's. For a better informed view of WW1 I would suggest the Great War Forum.

    ear defenders

As one who enjoys the never ending accompaniment of a permanent hiss in the ears, I do suggest that good hearing protection is a must. I bought the first pair of ear muffs in our boat yard and was thought a right wuss. Boys used cotton wool, real men didn't notice (until it was too late). When...
