    Domino or not domino

Not sure about that Chems. I reckon the best tool is a carefully set bandsaw, having cut the shoulders on the tablesaw. I would see a dado as a fairly crude way of forming a tenon personally. Ed

    Domino or not domino

Shoulda spent the money on a table saw! only kidding, I'm sure you'll get it sorted and in a day or two it'll be forgotten, although I'm irritated by that type of thing too. Ed

Where is it being sold for £470?

    British Hardwoods sale today

I had a notion of going today, but haircuts, dog walking and life in general prevented that. I must make a visit one day though. Ed

routing dilema - with the grain is with rotation of router?!

I only view climb cutting and something to be wary of when the router is mounted in a table. When hand holding the machine I do it from time to time if needed. I can't see how that would damage the router? Ed

    my first LN

I vividly remember opening the box of my first Lie-Nielsen (a No. 5 that I have since sold) and being awe struck by the finish and level of perfection of it. Obviously tools are made to be used, but there is still pleasure to be had from that first experience of holding something special...

    Old Chisels

No plans to do that - these were turned on my metalworking lathe, purely through necessity not for pleasure. I turn the odd bit of wood when needed but I can't see the attraction of it as the main stay of a hobby - each to their own though :D

    Old Chisels

Well its only taken me a bit over a year, but I finally got around to making handles for the gouges; This was mainly prompted by a project required for the sister in laws birthday, that needed them. So far I have spent all the allocated time making chisel handles, wonder if she'd like those...

    Domino or not domino

I think I might have said a few times and then promptly dived into the same hole myself. What is it about the Domino that does this - I've never experienced such indecision on another tool.... ..anyway I'm thinking of buying a new saw now! Ed

    My crazy purchasing logic

I know, I know. I should take my own advice and just buy it..........or should I :-k Ed

    My crazy purchasing logic

Well yes it would be a kind of an excuse, but I'm also not sure the Camvac is perfect for this. I find that if I reduce the 100mm hose down to 50mm that the pressure is so great that is sucks onto the nearest surface and then concertinas the hose up, dragging the machine across the floor to meet...

    My crazy purchasing logic

I've got a Karcher with a power take off, which is nearing the end of its life, although it would probably do the job. I suffer from a disease where when I buy something I like to get all the accessories so I have a full system...I try to fight it but I am weak.

No, builder I'm afraid (and I'm as surprised as the next man that I got a penny this year) Ed

I don't "need" any of it, thats why I go on these scope drifting meanders! Ed

    My crazy purchasing logic

I just got my Christmas Bonus and as discussed on a few posts am weighing up the options. I usually spend a portion of it on tools each year. This year I was thinking about the Domino, as something I don't need but would like, it fits my notion of how to spend this type of 'windfall' money...

    Domino Hell

I've done that with biscuits before now - so annoying. I think the solution you have used is good. The other option would be to make an endgrain plug to match the oak and try and make it disappear, but on balance probably best to show it for what it is rather than cover up. Ed

    Metal working lathe

I have a milling attachment for mine and its handy. I've never really used a milling machine so not in a position to compare, but I suspect a dedicated machine is always going to be far better. That said, the attachment is useful and for the small bits I do works well...I will reveal an example...

    Metal working lathe

My lathe was purchased from a forum member for £100 - Its practically an antique, but does its job brilliantly. I had a good look at the Axminster lathes today when I was at Nuneaton and was surprised how small they are. The cheapest ones (which I had previously considered) are really tiny -...
