Who's going to Yandles show on the 9th & 10th of this mo

Hi George I understand your frustration and share it - it's annoying for us to miss sales! Shows are always difficult to predict; the only certainty is that everyone will want the one product we're short of, regardless of the fact we only sold two bottles of it last time :) We try very hard to...

Who's going to Yandles show on the 9th & 10th of this mo

It certainly was a great show, very busy. Great to see so many of you there. The pics look good, although now I'll be in trouble for letting other people do the work!

    Low odour danish oil?

Hmm... I wonder if by 'food safe' they mean "safe for food contact" or " resists damage by food". I've seen the phrase 'Food safe' used when it means the latter and whilst not technically incorrect I can't help thinking it is slightly misleading.

Can I put a pre-cat Lacquer over a danish oil finish

Again, this wouldn't be advisable. Oils don't really like anything trying to stick to them and although the shellac might adhere in the short term it could well be a problem waiting to happen later. As for pre-cat over shellac, also not recommended. Pre-cat is cellulose based and the solvents...

    Friction polish - food friendly?

Chas is right that the 'harmful is swallowed' refers to the product in its liquid form, straight from the bottle as it were. The only product we can recommend for food contact is Food Safe Finish. Others will no doubt state that they use one product or another for this purpose, Food Safe Finish...

Can I put a pre-cat Lacquer over a danish oil finish

This wouldn't be advisable. The only finishes you can really use over a danish/finishing oil is more of the same oil or a wax.

New Finish from Chestnut - Offer ends Saturday 1st May!!!

In a paste wax the solvent evaporates to leave just wax; in these cases wax left in open pores can dry white. (This is because the wax is bleached white to make it clearer; to prevent this either use one of the lightly tinted waxes such as Medium Brown or buff the wax with a bristle brush before...

New Finish from Chestnut - Offer ends Saturday 1st May!!!

Glad to hear you like the product Duncan. We've had the product ready for a while now but were delayed from launching it properly while we were waiting for toy testing and the labels - I think you'll find the can you have doesn't say the product is safe for toys as we didn't have the results...

Manor white polish and button polish

The white polish will almost certainly have gone off; it normally only has a shelf life of 6 months!

    Danish oil solidified

That's certainly correct and is one way of dealing with it, although I'd use something less likely to break when shaken than marbles... I usually suggest small pebbles. At one time we could suggest decanting the oil into a smaller receptacle with no air gap, but we can't say that nowadays as the...

    e-mail accounts - opinions sought

Thanks grafter - it worked for me but I've changed it to be on the safe side. Thanks dibs, I'll have to study that one a bit later when I have more time, sounds interesting though.

    e-mail accounts - opinions sought

Hi All, thanks for the replies. My email provider offers me something along the lines of Misterfish's set up and I use the webmail option when I'm out of the office but it is a bit limited/basic in its format. Russell, that's very interesting, thanks for that link. All I have to do is to...

    e-mail accounts - opinions sought

All helpful stuff, thanks folks... keep it coming please. Roger, the address thing isn't a problem; I'll simply set my email ([email protected]) to forward all emails to the new account, it should be fairly seamless. I should mention that I'm thinking of using this for work, which will...

    e-mail accounts - opinions sought

Hi Folks It has often been said that the best method with email is to use a web-based system such as, I guess, hotmail or gmail. With a re-install looming I'm finding the prospect of trying to back-up all my emails one that I'm not looking forward to so I think it's time to make the change. I...

    Get woodworking 2010

Hah, a comedian! The best thing is that Chris is on the stand next door without internet so he doesn't know what I'm writing.. The mood at the show today has been very good, I haven't heard a single complaint about it and it certainly looks busier and bigger than the last few years. Contrary...

Hi Pete Yes, I'm pleased to say we have good stocks of the Buffing Kits at the show and, shock horror, we should be able to get them out to stockists very soon too! Hope to see you there!

    Get woodworking 2010

Hi Guys Great to see we have such adoring fans... you could declare yourselves on our Facebook page if you want! It'll be great to see you all, please do come and introduce yourselves... but just to clarify, this is intended as a favour to help forum members and isn't a devious marketing ploy...

    Get woodworking 2010

Just getting the last few bits ready, haven't seen it confirmed or denied - are you all meeting up at our stand (near the entrance) at midday each day or do you have another venue in mind. I don't mind either way, just someone needs to come out and say it/arrange it!
