You're not making it easy on your self using Meranti can't you find a bit of Brazilian mahogany or even use sapele, then you could use a chemical stain to darken the mahogany.

I've found a low cost alternative to the rip-off screws the only difference is that they are plain pozi drive not the square drive.

Also you have to consider that atmospheric air pressure is always changing, so air carried water vapour will be be moving into and out of any air containing material, even the very best finish won't stop changes in air pressure.

I just found out that my workshop tidy up that I've been having has got to be a lot deeper than I intended! :roll: My land lord wants to demolish and redevelop my old workshop within the next 12 months :evil: he's offering a purpose built new one but at what and whose cost I can only guess. :cry:
