I just found out that my workshop tidy up that I've been having has got to be a lot deeper than I intended! My land lord wants to demolish and redevelop my old workshop within the next 12 months  he's offering a purpose built new one but at what and whose cost I can only guess.

Thats pretty bad! Is the whole industrial estate being levelled? Or just your bit?

Has he given you 12monthes notice. Must be upsetting as your workshop felt very homely!!

No it's just me and my immediate neighbors that are deemed a waste of space! not quite sure how to feel about working in a brand new building with all mod cons.

Peter
I know from last time just how big a job it will be and I can only guess at how expensive it could be.

Time for a big change perhaps.

Sorry to hear Chris. At the risk of sounding like philosophising about someone else's problems, big change is rarely welcome at the time but maybe it will be a positive change eventually. Keep your head up fella. Hope it works out for the best in the end for you.
Chris

Apart from the upheaval, and business potentially lost by moving premises, I believe the present rent and rates have to be maintained as he is moving you out,
Probably a good time to consult an expert in this sort of thing.

Sorry to here this Chris.

Check your lease as I got caught out by this when a landlord sold the premises out from under me for development, I closed in the end as there were no suitable premises in the town I was in at that time.

If you go for it I would ask him to be involved in the planning application, in my current business we moved in to larger premises in January last year and were involved with the planning application from the start, this meant that we could answer any questions about noise, types of finish, hours of working etc as they came up, most of this was put in the application at the start.

It made life a lot easier.

Sorry to hear that Chris, even if there's no cost increase it's still pretty disruptive. I hope you can make it all go as smoothly as possible and maybe make this an opportunity to implement some of the changes that I'm sure you've thought about, in order to become even more efficient and productive in the future. In any event...good luck!
