Post a photo of the last thing you made

Yes I know but when you are copying you have to go with it, shame as the rest of the house is truly magnificent. I did sub out the turning to a guy who has a cnc lathe and the upholstery to someone who knows what they are doing.

    major relandscaping job.

Very nice looking job done there, but that down pipe hit me in the eye too, I don't know if it would work for you but as an idea I once saw a chain used as a "down pipe" it sort of used the surface tension of the water to trap it and guide it down, of coarse the drain needs to directly under the...

When it just isn't long enough

This is what you get when asked to make a worktop off-cut a bit longer, my theory being if you can't hide it make it a feature. Alas I forgot in my rush to glue it up to take a picture of the two parts so here's the test piece.

    Collet problem

I have the exact same problem with my over head router an old Danckaert, the best I have managed is to place two split washers on top of the cutter shank so that they compress like a very short spring when the cutter is tightened then they help push the collet back out when loosening, you do...

    Machining perspex

Are you sure, have you tried it? I find Perspex works quite well with a Block plane so a sharp shoulder plane should work also yes dificult to control but clamp down a guide block to work against should fix that.

Sanding in radius routed tracks (Finger slots Chopping brd)

I find a small scraper made from a bit of bandsaw or hacksaw blade shaped to match the router cutter works very well for removing any scorch marks.

    Collet problem

A lot of router cutter retailers also sell replacement collets so it really is a matter of establishing just what chuck your machine is fitted with and getting accordingly.

    Garden waterwheel

Very interesting project you have going, a thought I just had, is this for a pond with fish? if so you may want to soak the wood off first, some how I feel with all this tannin rich wood your using you may end up with a strong tea coloured pond. Keep up the good work.

    Birch Plywood

I think that would be classed as Grade C ,CP or WG used where face appearance is not important i.e. packing cases and furniture carcasses, WG would have large open knots/ patches/open defects, staining and discoloration.
