    Captive ring rattles

I've made a few rattles. I got a book out of the library on turning when I first got my lathe - deparately trying to remember the author - and he had a 'how to' on making rattles. It's pretty easy though. Here's my (inadequate) how to. I hope one of the better turners will correct me on this...

    Phil Irons coloured hollow forms

I visited an independent art gallery in Stratford Upon Avon (Montpellier gallery) and was pleased to see they have some very nice coloured hollow forms by Phil Irons. I was also pleased to see that they have a proper price tag. A nice piece was £240. I wish i'd had my camera - lovely work...

    No Volt Release Switch recommendations

Yep, I spoke to Trend and they said it would be fine. To be on the safe side I'd better buy myself an Elu Mof 177/02 which should just squeeze into the spec :D Thanks for the help Steve

    Repairing broken guitar headstock?

Have a look at my guitar tech's blog - he recently mended a 335 which I saw when I was round there last time: http://guitartechnicalservices.co.uk/ac ... kshop.html He's pretty bloomin skilled. Cheers Steve

Thanks everso much for this. Great little bargain. Unfortunately to make the most of the £8 minimum carriage I had to buy some other stuff as well

    Jessem versus Benchdog

Well, the Bench Dog Pro router table and stand arrived this morning and I've had a look at all the parts in the box. Everything certainly looks very well made. I'm particularly impressed with the solid fence, which looks like it will last a lifetime. The phenolic router plate is pretty solid...

    No Volt Release Switch recommendations

Hi folks I am after recommendations for 240v NVR switches. I want to be able to use it with a reasonably hefty 1/2" router in a table. I have seen the Charnwood one for around £25 and the Trend NVRS which is about twice the price. I'm not even sure I know what my buying criteria should be...

    A lesson learned

Get well soon George, there but for fortune goes I. I was about to cut some wood with the chain saw the other day. I thought it wasn't worth putting the PPE kit on for a little bit of wood. For some reason I got distracted and didn't get the chain saw out. The very next day a guy at work...

Hi All, newbie to the this forum

Good grief Darren! I can't believe you've been turning for less than 3 years  You are obvious a natural talent. Great stuff. You don't fancy turning your hand to sorting out the economy do you :D All the best Steve

Bench Top Advice - MDF or Baltic Birch Multiplex

Speaking of someone who squeezes his workshop into a 12 x 8' shed, I can only dream of 1000 sq feet :D

    Jessem versus Benchdog

Thank you for your various helpful answers. In the end my wallet made the decision for me. I was leaning to the Jessem, but ended up with the Bench Dog. Rutlands have put the Bench Dog in "clearance" and reduced the price by £50, down to £189 against the list price of £369. The BD Pro fence...

    Jessem versus Benchdog

Mmm. That does look pretty good value. Does anyone know how the "clamp set allows easy router mounting" works?

    Jessem versus Benchdog

Cheers, Gary I have thought about building one myself, but I can press the "order now" button and have a decent one within a week  If your Jessem was stolen and you had to buy a new table (but weren't allowed to build your own!!), would go for the Jessem again? ATB Steve

    Jessem versus Benchdog

Hi Folks After bidding and failing to win anything of value on Flea Bay, I have decided to buy a brand new router table. I want something with a bit of longevity. I currently don't need a very big one - making guitar bodies etc - but I want to get something that will have a wide use in the...

making new door opening in apex shed

Hi folks I have a nice 12 x 8 apex shed with a door in the side. I'm thinking it would be much more useful to have double doors in one end. My plan is to make a new opening in the end wall and make a pair of doors to fit (hopefully out of the t&g boards I cut out when I make the hole). Is...

Elu MOF96 with WolfCraft 540 router table

That would make sense from the little I've been able to work out from other stuff posted on the web. Does any of you out there have a Wolfcraft 540?

Elu MOF96 with WolfCraft 540 router table

Hi folks I've just bought a Wolfcraft 540 table on ebay and I will be picking it up next week. It's for light occasional hobby use, routing to trim around guitar body blanks and other similar projects. I have a 1/4" Elu Mof 96 router and wonder if anyone knows whether I will need a router...
