Hi folks

I am after recommendations for 240v NVR switches.

I want to be able to use it with a reasonably hefty 1/2" router in a table.

I have seen the Charnwood one for around £25 and the Trend NVRS which is about twice the price.

I'm not even sure I know what my buying criteria should be.

All the best

Steve

You can buy Charnwood's one, here. That's only £20 but, you do then have to add the cost of postage and that can vary depending on how many other items you may or may not be ordering... Axminster do a near-identical model, here. Though, I can't see why it costs an extra £10...?

I've had the Charnwood one for a couple of years now and it's fine. It really is simple to use - the plug from your router plugs straight in to the top. No need to rewire anything and you can easily remove it again, should you want to use the same tool for hand-held work. My router's got a 1,900w motor and it runs fine through the blue box.

Unless you get lucky with a used model on eBay, I don't think you'll find a cheaper switch than the Charnwood one, unless you're prepared to remove the router's plug and wire it in to the switch directly. It is, however, a little bulkier than some of the models that require wiring.

I have a cheap Axminster one on my table which I fitted a few years ago - cannot remember what I paid, but it works.

These guys seem to be selling NVRs cheaply. Never used them so can comment on whether they are any good:

Thanks everso much for this. Great little bargain. Unfortunately to make the most of the £8 minimum carriage I had to buy some other stuff as well

Have you checked the wattage? if you have a hefty router I imagine your talking 2000watts or so, the switch in this link only takes 1850watts

Yep, I spoke to Trend and they said it would be fine. To be on the safe side I'd better buy myself an Elu Mof 177/02 which should just squeeze into the spec :D

Thanks for the help

Steve
