    Which Book

I was only suggesting them as inspirational additional reading not to replace David Charlesworths books, which I also have and they would be my choice to this poster

    Cycling Around the World

I have been watching the BBC 1 program about Mark Beaumont's successful circumnavigation of the globe by cycle. I thought it interesting that he negotiated Iran and Afghanistan without trouble only to get mugged and robbed in the USA. Maybe the Yanks should look to their own internal behavior...

    Coffin Design and Construction?

as a practicing Buddhist we always contemplate death as it is topic that we can be certain will happen to all of us. As a Buddhist that practices cabinetmaking I should be interested in building my own coffin. I am thinking, possibly native elm. does anyone have any design plans or thoughts...

    How old is my backsaw?

I have a Frederick Willey, Leeds tenon saw which belonged to my late uncle who was a joiner. I had it sharpened by City Tools in Leeds and it is superb. I also have a Tyzack tenon saw which has also been sharpened by them. I believe they are as good as it gets unless you pay out the considerable...

    Why spend more?

It is a fair comment but I work on the adage that if I buy the best I can afford I cannot blame the tools it has to be me

Meat and Fish Band Saw Blades- Dragon Saws

It's official, these are without doubt the best blades I have used on my Record Power BS350 Bandsaw and I would strongly recommend supporting British Industry and trying one on your saw. My saw takes maximum 3/4" blades but the 5/8' x 1033.1/2" blades they supplied are just perfect. PM me on set...

    mortice chisels

I would send them back as they are not what was stated and also Drapers tools are no big deal anyway. I bought some assorted Ward and Payne and Marples chisels all with boxwood handles for a song and they are superb.

Meat and Fish Band Saw Blades- Appraisal

They certainly have them now. The pictures you show look as though the blades you bought from Sharpquips look to be working just fine. I am hoping to get to try some of their blades in the near future. Have you seen James Krenov's book -The Art of Cabinetmaking?- I found his writing so inspiring...

Meat and Fish Band Saw Blades- Appraisal

I have now tried the blade which Dragon Saws in Wales sent me (5/8") cutting a piece 2mm thick from an oak block 150mm x 1m x55mm. The cut was uniform throughout requiring some planning with a No 7 Try Plane. How does this blade compare to the other I have used, namely a blade of the same...

    Case for Vienna Regulator

We have one, in fact it is a Gustav Becker movement with chime in Walnut c1890. I do not think I would ever want to make one as the age has more appeal the the craftsmanship, in fact the carcass is,as with most Vienna Regulators very rudimentary, schoolboy woodwork in fact. I am happy to taken...
