Hi

Would anyone know which book by David Charlesworth would cover sharpening and techniques required for planes and chisels?

I don't have a lot of experience with these tools and was wanting to start off on the right foot.

Cheers - Ian

Also add "The Art of Cabinetmaking" by James Krenov or in fact any book by him, and he has written about 6, all are worth having, truly inspirational

Hmmm, not sure about the Krenov books for this particular purpose though ?

I have several of his and would say they are more about the philosophy and life story behind his work, and not really about specific techniques and "how to do". Inspiring as you say but not instructional perhaps.

It may be that one of his books that I haven't got covers this aspect more than I'm aware though, although you certainly won't get better instrunctional coverage than DC's books I wouldn't think which definately do do the business in this respect.

Cheers, Paul. :D

I was only suggesting them as inspirational additional reading not to replace David Charlesworths books, which I also have and they would be my choice to this poster

Have just re-read your post Ken and you did indeed suggest them as additional, which I missed, must read more carefully !
