Fed up with continual buying of paper masks, and fogged up face mask, I sent the wife off on a mission yesterday between school runs to get me an Airace.

Got home and tested it.

The filter insertion, and thus change is very simple, being just to depress two buttons, on either side of the mask, the front grid pops off, and the filter can be replaced.

Wife also bought the optional clip on visor, that under test last night seems strong and quite adequate for small work ( was making some small spindles for a wind chime ) , anything of weight though and I would remove this and use my full face mask with browguard.

The mask fits securely to the nose mouth area via a quite comfy rubber mould, and two straps secure to head, one on the toprear of head to take the weight ( negligable by the way ! ) and one to the rear above the nape, simple tensioning system to secure.

Breating was as easy, almost felt as there was no mask, although there was the occasional pop/suck sound of the exhaust valve ( any ex services will recognise the sound of the S10 and have flashbasks to NBC chamber drills !!)

After 3 hours of use i felt no weight still, no soreness of tight strappings , just a little condensation on the nose. ( condensation might be though to being in the shed in winter with no heating )

If you are using paper masks you will spend in a few weeks the cost of this mask - Get one.

I can throw up some pics if anyone is interested in the details.

Peace of mind was great last night, the local dust removal with the DSE1 extractor, and the airace on before entering shed, and taken off when leaving shed, all i need now is air to be cycled, cleansed. Will be getting a microclene when can afford, but in short term installing a bathroom expelair that i have spare.

Hope i haven't bored you with this,

Regs

Hope you don't find yourself shouting GAS GAS GAS everytime you put the thing on :D

LOl - yes - and i use fullers earth to get sanding sealer off my face !

Thanks for the review, that's very helpful!

I'd seen these, but frankly the comedy look of them and perceptions of it being heavy or cumbersome had put me off. I'm thinking again now....

A damn sight cheaper than the airflow masks....

Ryan I used to have one of these and didn't get on with it very well .
This was just a personal thing .

I have one and find it very good. I plan on ordering the visor.

One minus is that if you have it on for a long time the condensation can build up to the point were it actually drips out the front. Not a big problem but it took me a while to figure out where the drops of water where coming from the first time it happened (I thought the roof was leaking).

in my experience the visor isnt much good for woodturning as because its open at the top shaving and such cack get caught behind it - better to use a standard face sheild with the air ace.

I had never though of that, its open at the top

I think I will stick to my full face visor, it fits over the airace just fine.
