My newest box. Never cut cylinders before on a bandsaw, believe me it isnt easy.
A big learning curve (curve, get it? never mind)
Fronts faced with Paduak and Maple, inlays are rosewood and iroku, and of course 12 mm ply. back panel padauk.

This pic made me realise the flocking had gotten discoloured with all the sanding, so the drawers are being re coated as i write.

Nice, I like the shape of the back panel with the stabilising foot. Looks good in that last shot as well.

Glad you decided not to hide your boxes :)

Mike,
luckily I dont carve stuff because that would be embarrassing to show. But I'm happy with this.

Thank you kindly. Just looked at the pics again and realised I left out mentioning Beech as the front and rear layers.
So just to give the full make up it starts at the back with padauk, beech, ply, rosewood, ply, iroku, ply, rosewood, ply, and finally beech.
But I'm mainly sunny 'cos I emigrated to a very hot country (oh yes).

Nice work Bob, you have a winner there.

Did the re-flocking come out OK or were there any problems? Presumably you just painted over and re-flocked? I have never done that but on occassion thought I may need to one day.

Malcolm,
I cant get the recommended glue here because its too volatile for air travel. So I emailed the company in america and they said to just use an outdoor ornamental ironwork paint that slow dries.
Thats what I use and I dab it in quite thickly. It works well.
i have once before over coated a draw and it was fine.
This yin yang box caused me so many different problems that these draws have now been coated THREE times.

it still looks perfect from any distance, the only thing is that the surface is now quite hard. More like a crinkle plastic feel rather than a crushed velvet feel.
Another woodworker with flocking experience might feel it wasnt quite right but to all casual inspection, its fine.
