I need to buy a piece of worktop for an update in our utility room .I would like to use wood but not entirely made up my mind yet.The last lot I made many years ago from maple but it did cup and I wasn't entirely satisfied.Iwondered what you chaps who fit kitchens use and could anyone recommend a supplier in the Notts area?I want to install a Belfast sink about halfway along a two metre length.

Did you treat the old one the same way on both sides? That's a common cause of distortion - treating the top and not the underside, especially if it's in a place likely to get damp.

To be honest I can't remember but probably not,I made the last ones myself and if I remember correctly by the time I came to fitting the worktop Iwas probably just glad to see the back of it if you see what I mean.I just wondered if I could buy ready made worktop this time but I would like to buy decent stuff.I will definitely treat the underside this time.
