Hello all,

please excuse a for sale ad as being my first post.

My woodworking has had to take a substantial respite in the past few years due to divorce and unemployment. I no longer have a space I can use as a workshop and so my larger tools have lain unused for several years. As I'm not likely to be living anywhere I can use them again for the next few years I have decided to sell them so that they can be used by someone who'll get more use out of them.

I'm keeping my hand tools and hope to have at least a small workbench space again soon, but in the meantime, this is what's for sale.

Grizzly 3hp cabinet saw with shopfox fence. This is a very heavy duty saw and would suit a serious hobbyist or small workshop. It comes with a homebuilt cutoff sled, wheeled base, Forest woodworker 2 blade, spare rip blade, standard throat plate, zero clearance throat plate (for the ww2 blade), dado throat plate, sliding mitre gauge, dust hood and manual. The cast iron table has some light surface rust from being in a damp garage that will buff out nicely with a fine pad on a random orbit sander, or some elbow grease. Details can be found here.

Grizzly 6" jointer. great condition except that, like the table saw, there's a little light rust on the bed from being stored in a damp garage. Comes with a lockable rolling cart.

£250

Dust Collector: 1hp dust collector with 5 micron bags. Has two way inlet, so you can connect two machines to it without having to change it over. Comes with a long section of corrugated hose.

£75

PM me for details or via email at justin dot peer at gmail dot com. I'm in NW London and you'll need a decent van and someone else to help lift as the saw is effing heavy.

Cheers,

Justin.

OK, now I'm confused. when I previewed this post it looked fine and the images showed correctly, but when I actually post there's 'report to moderator' all over it. I thought I'd used the correct bbedit tags for this.

Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please.

thanks,

J.

oh bum, wrong time of year. I'd have bitten your hand off for that saw. I'm sure you'll sell it here very very soon ;)

Ah many thanks for sorting that out for me. I was on several woodworking forums for a few years but dropped off in the past few. I have to say that it stings to sell my much loved saw, but seeing it sitting there unused hurts just as much.

Next year there will be a small bench space and room for hand tools. In a few more years there'll be another workshop and space to build larger things for fun.

Cheers,

Justin.

Just checked out your blog Justin. Interesting project. I really like the idea. I suspect our resident cricketing architect will be interested in that.

Yes, it's been a frustrating project in some ways, turns out the trailer I bought from ebay was in a worse state than first appeared and basically I'm going to have to scrap it and start again next year. Learned a lot along the way but basically lost about £800 on it so far. That said, I'm working part time again now so aiming to save money over the winter and buy a custom trailer for it in the spring and get straight back into it when the weather improves.

Took the framing apart last weekend and am storing it away somewhere dry for now, the osb sheets haven't done well in the damp though, a lot of them are trashed.

Live and learn, still aiming to do it for around £7500 all in.

Just out of interest, did you import the Grizzly kit or buy it in this country? If imported, how did you find the process? Was it direct from Grizzly?

I was living in the US for 4 years and bought it while I was there. When we moved back we brought it with us along with all our other belongings, declared on the customs invoice, so it wasn't the same as doing a private import with shipping etc.

Will have to spend a lot to get equivalent quality/value when I eventually re-equip a workshop in the future. I rate Grizzly very highly, probably the best value for money equipment out there. Wish I'd bought the bandsaw while I was there, that would be the one tool worth keeping as it doesn't take up much space and can be run off a 13A socket whereas the table saw needs a heftier supply.

Nice wheeled bases 8) 8)
Where they from?

Andy

Made by Shop Fox and sold by Grizzly as an accessory for their tools. Really good pieces of kit. I used to have a 2 car garage and would park them round the edge. When I wanted to spend a day working I'd just pull the cars out and wheel them into place, plenty of room to work around them that way.

Mike

Look at his WWW

Doh........Thanks chaps.....

All this comes at a curious moment. Our children have left home in the last few months, and I am sick to the back teeth of sitting drawing on the computer all day. We had a long "where are we going in life" discussion last night after having touched on the subject over the last 6 months, and selling up to buy a small-holding (with lots of outbuildings!!!!) and a "project" house seems the current favourite.

So, watch out for developments, and be prepared to see "WIP-new workshop/ chicken shed/ glazed thermal-store" photos.......oh, and to hear all about a Land's End to John O'Groats cycle ride. Mid-life crisis? Who said that?

Mike

That sounds like a dream I once had Mike. I'd love to have a small holding. Sod cycling the length of the country tho, you crazy SOB ;)

For some reason I thought your children were younger. I'd not be too disillusioned yet. If they are anything like my friends at that age, then they'll be back! Although, it took me 15yrs to come back home, but that was to buy the house and live in it with my wife and child ;)
