Coming at it from a slightly different angle. You might move, you might decide you have a better use for the space, but you might not. A number of times in my life I have lived with a compromise for ages just because something might happen, in many cases the 'event' never did actually happen.
If I were you I would light your workshop the way that works for you as a workshop, not live with a compromise and deal with it if circumstances ever do change.
