Just as much chance of binding, if not greater, with a large sheet

A sheet of MDF or ply won't have the same internal stresses as a piece of solid timber which are liable to bind when ripping

If I were to cut a sheet of MDF in half with a short fence I might as well be doing it freehand, so I'd use a long fence for that.

I'd use neither but a Festool TS55 on a sheet of Kingspan !!
