I would like to thank the very nice guys and gals on here...most of whom I've never even met in person. The outpouring of kind wishes is very heart-warming. I think that I have realised that it doesn't have to spin at thousands of revs a minute and chuck out sparks and dust to be dangerous. I really thought I could use hand tools without such protection...sadly no.
I feel I am also so lucky to have had this accident..as it was a close call...but it taught me that even the most simple and innocuous things can be dangerous and maybe take more protection next time to prevent a more serious injury.
