Workbench

Hello,

I've been lurking for the last 8 months since joining the forums, I thought I would show you a workbench I made last year.

My old workbench was coming to the end of it's working life, so I really needed to build a new one, Requirement was for it to be robust and strong as I've often have upto around a 10 - 15 steel air cylinders to service (25kg each).

After some research on the web I found this:

It was mainly to be used for day to day work, but as I had recently got back into woodworking since leaving school it also became a great assembly bench/woodworking bench.

I constructed it so it was a full sheet of 8ft x 4ft plywood for the top, this overhangs the I beam base 2" all round. The authors measurements were something like 56"(L)24"(W)34"(H) for the I beam base. My measurements were 92"(L)44"(W)34"(H). I really recommend building this bench,(maybe not to my measurements) sturdy as anything.

Do you really put all your power tools back in their boxes at the end of the day or, are the Erbauer tools no good? :shock: :wink:

i think you might be going overboard with the health and safety though, look at pic1 and all those fire extinguishers :shock:

As a part time fireman they look more like Breathing Apparatus cylinders to me.

Good, solid looking bench, will take some abuse that.

Shame your cylinders weren't full of helium, that way you could take a hit every now and then and sing along in a high pitched voice whilst working like the mice from Bagpuss. Right up until you passed out on your SCMS
