Hi all. I've had some timber felled in my garden for the past 4 years but when I came to cut it into firewood I noticed it had barely split.
Any ideas what it might be and if I could turn it. What about the wavey pattern ?
Cheers

I'm not 100% certain, but I think that's Alder. It's also a piece that's spalted (Partially rotted) and ripple grained too. Should make for a very nice bowl so long as the timber doesn't tear out too badly. It's hard to tell exactly what it is since it's spalted as well as being a bit rough.
