I'm trying to run down my offcuts pile by making a few boxes and veneered up some lid panels yesterday ... brownie points to anyone who can identify them all correctly

It looks like you are the only entrant @Fitzroy !

You were actually spot on with the two you named. They are:

Top lhs - Elm, rhs - Mahogany
Second row - both Laurel
Third row lhs - Red Elm, rhs - Myrtle
Bottom lhs - Pepperwood, rhs - Walnut

The Mahogany is quilted which is particularly attractive but probably makes it harder to identify. I don’t think l’d have fared better than you with just the picture.
 
They are all amazing looking timber, I wouldn’t have known you could get laurel in such large sections and I’ve never heard of pepper wood. Where do you source such exotic and figured timber?
