Here's a start on my comp entry. I'm really not a fan of Sketch up. There are so many thing I just can't figure out how to do but everyone else seems to be using it for the comp so I thought I had better have a go. There will be a base with feet to go on the bottom. I only has the limited textured with the free download to the coulours are out too but it gives a general idea.

Not bad for your first effort, Dom. Looks like an interesting design. :) I also found SketchUp difficult at first but, I found that the more you play with it, the easier and more convenient it becomes. Keep at it and you'll soon realise you could produce the same drawing without half-as-many guidelines as you've got there! :D

Looks alright to me Dom, I haven't had the time to master SU either yet so my entry is all being worked out on paper. Design looks good, I hope you're not in intermediate

To be honest I much perfer to draw a design out. This took me about 3 hours on Sketch Up and the same on paper would be about 20 mins. The advantage of course it that you can rotate the image and save it as another picture which would take 20mins a time on paper. It's just initial thoughts really. The final result will probably be only 4 drawers deep with a darker wood base including feet. The left hand ones pulling out conventionally and the right hand ones swinging out. The door on the side is for storing longer necklaces which prevens both sides from swinging out. Should be a challenge which is about working out the mechanics of it and buidling around those solutions in wood. Cost will aslo be an issue. Lots of hinges mean to use all brusso would bankrupt me.
