Thanks for all the kind and positive comments guys. It's my first refined piece and I'm pleased with it.

A fantastic piece, I would be delighted to produce something like that and I hope you are too. My one observation, as others have made - the dovetail spacing is compromised by the jig, the slight pins either end don't look right to me. But that's the fault of the jig, not your top notch craftsmanship!

Thanks guys - I agree about the dovetails. I should have considered it more for the size of the wood. I couldn't quite justify a Leigh jig for one job.

REALLY nice DiscoStu, well done, I'm sure they'll love it.

The bottle-like shaping of the 2 uprights make it really "well cool man" (!), and just as you say, that laser lettering really is the icing on the cake - much better than the scroll saw lettering I suggested in response to your original post.

Well done mate.

I liked the lettering that Mike did for me so much that I've been investigating the costs of a machine!

The big day is tomorrow so I might find out soon what they thought to it.

Now I was thinking, that if you moved the glasses to the middle under the handle to make more space for the hand, you could put two bottles one either side which would improve the proportions. Or do I mean portions ...

Tony I like your thinking. Maybe a tumbler would give even more room. Although you couldn't have wine in a tumbler so a couple of single malts either side to balance it out?

It's a banker's bet they'll be thrilled, just make sure you work the room and come back with a load of commissions!

I think your efforts have really paid off just shows what proper thought and careful execution can achieve I also like the laser printing.Very nice job.

Looks fantastic Stu, I'm sure they will treasure it for many many years.
Self critique is a positive thing I think but you should be proud of it.
Remember, the glass is not half empty, nor is it half full. It's not bloody big enough. :eek:ccasion5:

I posted the same thing on my Land Rover Discovery 3&4 owners club site and I think the second reply was discussing the quality of the wine! It's interesting to see how different people view things.
