Why don't you see Silver Birch for sale at timber yards?

Interesting to hear peoples experiences with it. Enjoyed the youtube videos.

It does seem its available, ive only really used 4 timber yards, all quite big places except one and none of them stocked it. Bowl blanks seem quite widely available but nearly always spalted.


I've played about with some bits of cherry bark, its very similar so i wouldn't be surprised if you can use it for lots of the same things.

The burrs are really nice, they make good lids or boxes.

I have some in the shed that has been seasoning for a few years that lid was a piece, I must get round to using it.
