Mmmm..interesting that.
We were in Magnet today and they have Junkers etc but they also have a range that is seriously more expensive, templated and fitted by the company (not sure who exactly) in question but claimed to be maintenance free as the worktop is made up specifically to your requirements and they then trat it after manufacture. Pressure treated? I just don't know...but I get the sense that maybe, just maybe, there are some new techniques out there.
For example, when I was investigating the fitting problems with a Hoebeek oak floor, in passing it transpired that they microwave the boards to kill off any woodworm larvae. I'd not heard of that being done before.
